What mistake(s) did Honda make with the 06 Civic?

Does anyone think Honda made any mistakes with the 06 Civic? I think the only one i can think of would be not having an EX-L model. If the Civic EX had available leather seating, that would open the car up to an even broader demographic.

"Just bad things":

• Low Quality easy to scratch/gouge Interior plastic
• Ajustable lumbar support...really, this could not have cost that much
• Ummm...nope...hmmm...okay, someone else?

"Nice to have" Options:

• Leather (EX-L / Si with Leather option)
• Sat Nav that folks could actually get (yes, Honda really underestimated the demand on this one...just being sarcastic)

Civics are an economy car, I doubt adding leather would really broaden its demographic.

Some things Honda dropped the ball on (Si):

1) Little rattles (prob fixed for 07)
2) Quirky brake feel
3) Floor mounted accelerator
4) cheap looking faux-aluminum
5) paint finish chips easily
6) ginormous a pillar (but guess that's the payoff for increased rigidity)
7) Could use more low-end torque
8) interior panels scratch easily
9) two-tier dash ergonomical but looks too trekkie-like (Euro interior is much better)

As I have just waxed it for the first time today (I bought it during winter, really haven't had a lot of free time since, as I work 7 days a week), I still hear/see a lot of complaints about paint chips. Still, if the right sized rock/pebble comes around, wax isn't gonna stop it.

Yes, it would broaden the demographic because then people looking to buy a Honda car with leather would not have to buy an Accord EX-L, they would have the option of the Civic EX-L. That way consumers are not limited to only one model being available with leather.

I agree. I went to 3 dealerships, they all only had AT in the GGs. At the time I didn't know really how to drive one very well (I drove my friends a couple time, he was gonna teach me incase I did buy one), but I really wanted a MT. However, I didn't care since my Firebird handled like crap in the snow, so I didn't want to wait... wish I would've now.

Much like the underestimation regarding the demand for Navi, given the number of folks to whom leather would appeal (within the current owner group), Honda certainly could have made a bit more realized profit by offering a Leather factor option. The question is, would the cost of product differentiation have exceeded the additional margin of gain.

When I am traveling on the freeway, the passenger seatbelts knocks the door panel and it drives me crazy. Anyone know how to fix it other than always having it buckled? The interior rattles are annoying. I actually do not think the plastics are that cheap looking or feeling. You have to remember Honda had to save money somewhere to pay for all the airbags and standard features.

Other than that, I love the car.

No projector HID Bi-Xenons
No Auto climate control
No storage cover on American model vehicles

Other than that, I'm totally pleased.
