Is the air intake box noisy?

I notice this very irritating sound that comes from the firewall area on the driver's side. I can't figure out what it is. The car only has 250 miles on it and it's already driving me crazy. It never makes the sound when it idles. Does anybody else notice an engine area noise that is only on the driver's side? I'm starting to think that I may try putting some insulating foam inside the air box to try to quiet it down. If it was a smooth and constant noise proportional to engine speed I could ignore it, but it seems to resonantly come and go. Any thoughts?

what kinda civic is it?

i have an R18 coupe and i had some excessive noise from the rear of my civic when it was new but it went away after a while.. but never anything from where you're talkin about

Is it kinda like a creaking sound? I had this "mysterious" sound coming from the back of my Si when i bought it... It got to the point where i told the dealership to keep the car until they found the bloody noise...

They told me it was body molding that needed to be seperated... Noise gone...

Oh yeah, sorry for not elaborating. It's an Si coupe. It's a hard sound to describe actually. It's not cracking or squeaking at all. It's sort of like a noisy tire sound that when I push the clutch in and the engine just idles it goes away. I'm starting to think it's a resonating sound from the airbox because I can move my head to middle and the sound starts to go away. From experience I know that where wave fronts cross you get more noise and that those situations in cars almost always come from some resonant sound. Oh well, i'll figure out a way to deaden the sound a little and report back. Hopefully that's all it is.
