2007 Honda Civic SI wanting a turbo
I am going to build a si on boost, but its a everyday driver so dont want to be making to much power. I am going for something around 350whp for now. I have a few ideas that will get me there, but then again in the future i will want to upgrade so want to have something that can support me for both my wishes. I understand i need a 3" full exhaust system, and i am not buying a cheapo depo ebay turbo kit. I am guessing either a garret gt30 or gt35r. In the future i will want to raise it to 450whp but that is later on when i build my motor so i know i can run it safe. I know with the civic si i cant use a kpro which is horrible, but i will just use a aem ems. these are the following mods i am going to throw on to support my boost kit.
Should i part out my turbo kit? or is there a recommended turbo kit i should buy that includes everything? 3" A-pexi exhaust system ( no cat, no resg )straight pipe Fuel Injectors ( what size, i am guessing 750cc will be good to use at 350whp and then upgrade later since i have a ecu that can control it) Fuel Regulator Fuel rail walbro 255lb fuel pump AEM EMS Turbo kit. Tune 350whp on 18lbs on 93oct shouldnt be to hard I am going to install everything at one time. I also want to set my redline up to 9200 ( and i am guessing i have to do some head work ) If there is anything i am missing please let me know Thanks Last edited by 1fastsi; 05-01-2008 at 06:27 PM. |

AEM EMS does not work on our cars. It can not run our cars. The dash is controlled by our ECU and the AEM is a full stand alone system and will not work in conjunction with the stock setup. So you could use the F I/C but that's a piggyback or the Emanage Ultimate. Or you could spend some big money and have a Haltech custom wired in.

i was just looking on the forums and i noticed there was a new engine mang. The hydra ems. Can i use that to control all my stuff needed for boost? Also, i checked out AFI Turbo kit, but many people told me it is better to just put a turbo kit together myself.
Can i use the Hydra ems? and should i part out my turbo kit or buy a complete? |

I think aem will work for our cars , But not as a standalone. it's going to be more like a piggyback. I just don't get the point of revving it to 9200. 350 whp on a stock internals is stressing the motor already.
I think you will need some aftermarket rods or stroker kit. Well, anyway, good luck .There's a guy who's making 307whp already with 9 psi using e manage with the small greddy turbo. I think you will make 350whp with that gt35 with less than 18 psi. Last edited by slow4drsi; 05-01-2008 at 09:41 PM. |

Yes you can run the AEM to work with the stock ECU. Just need to talk most of the engine functions; ignition, fuel, timing and VTak away from the stock ECU and let it run the other functions. I will be using the Haltech E8v2, similar as the AEM unit for my engine build. Blue's has decided to use the Motec system for his.

350whp can be accomplished with stock internals. There are several Greddy folks that has hit 260whp. The issue will be hitting the 9K rev limit with the stock head. That will require a full port and head kit to accomplish this task and you may be putting too much stress on the stock internals at this point. Swift will be introducing a turbo kit early June for the Civics'. Redshift is also designing a kit for the SI.

18 psi won't be seen unless you upgrade the MAP sensor as well.
I don't know Roger, I pretty sure the K series heads can handle 9K rpm without any issues. I could be wrong though. I know that naturally it will be more stress on the motor, but that goes for any motor really. |

re:
well i just got off the phone with a local shop called All Japanese Performance.
He told me my goal at 350whp on 8.5lbs of boost is simple. He told me 9k redline will be a little to much on my stock head until i do some work but he can set it back to 8500rpm until i start building my head.. the kit includes all of the following. And as far as a ecu to control my fuel, they said a hondata reflash is used for that. * Precision SC6169E Turbocharger * AJP Tubular Sequential Fire 1-4-3-2 Turbo Manifold (Lifetime Warranty) * HKS Blow-Off Valve * Tial Wastegate (Silver) * AJP Intercooler * 2.5″ Non-Polished Aluminum FMIC piping * Polished Intake Pipe with Filter * 3″ Stainless Steel Downpipe * Stainless Steel Dumptube * 2.5″ Silicone Couplers * T-Bolt Clamps * Steel Braided Oil Feed/Return Lines * All Necessary Gaskets and Fittings * Heat Shielding * Walbro Fuel Pump 255lph * Precision Injectors and Clips Hondata reflash: * VTEC 4250 with VTEC window to 5500 rpm * 8500 RPM rev limit * Tuned to 8.5 psi boost * Injectors provided in kit by Precision * Intake with AJP MAF Adapter - Provided in kit by AJP * 93 octane fuel * 3″ exhaust, no cat Price: $4,299 These are the optional to buy but i will purchase the following. * Hondata Reflash: $595.00 * Modified Oil Pan: $200.00 * AJP Dual Gauge Holder: $19.99 * Fuel Return Kit: $580.00 * Intake Manifold Gasket: $69.99 Last edited by 1fastsi; 05-02-2008 at 08:30 AM. |
