FI noob

question for you guys...

Would it be possible to create a custom turbo kit? Or should I just go with the Greddy kit? Reason I'm asking is because my buddy who has an srt-4 is getting a new turbo and said he'll give me his stock turbo, I think it's a 16mm? dunno, would I be able to make a kit out of it?

yes i searched......a little...

Theoretically anybody can put together their own turbo setup, but its not as easy as getting a spool, a manifold and some tubing. Theres a lot of development and research that goes into choosing the appropriate turbo, developing the manifold, etc.

Usually less expensive to buy a kit unless you really know what you're doing and can do all the fabrication yourself, or are going for certain goals.

You can but you have to realize your going to spend lots of time and money to get it set up right. Custom work is not cheap...you would need a custom exhaust manifold...match the turbo...get the piping...then get it tuned.

cool thanks guys! So let's say I go with the greddy kit, would I be able to upgrade it later on down the road? (ie. bigger turbo...) Should I just wait for the redshift turbo?

I am not an expert on the greddy kit...but I don't see why not. You might need bigger injectors maybe a bigger fuel pump....oh plus the return line to the fuel tank and you will need a retune.

lmao...my girlfriend pointed it out to me and said "honey look your car" and I was sad because I currently live in arcata and drive a rr coupe. So much for being unique. Mine has mods though...wheels/tires, intake, exhaust + plus some odds and ends and shortly Vibrant long tube header plus CT SUPERCHARGER....I can't wait.
