New to tuning questions
As I'm sure you've guessed, I'm new to the whole tuning scene. I recently got a 2007 Civic LX at a great price, but it doesn't pick up as well as I'd like, especially above 40. I've found tons of info about turbos and superchargers for the SI and a little for the lower trim levels. Everything I've found has mentioned different types of engines the turbos work with. I was under the impression all the Civics had the same factory engine in them (except the larger Si engine obviously). If there are as many different engines as there seems to be, how do you know which one you have?
In my searching, I've found a bunch of places that say there's a slight delay in a turbos reaction time and that you have to keep them running for a couple of minutes after driving before turning them off. The superchargers dont' have those flaws, but they also don't provide nearly the same performance boost. I'm looking to boost my car's performance at or a little above the Si's performance. Would a turbocharger, or a supercharger work better for achieving this? This is my main vehicle and will be driven 300 or so miles a week, so it would have to be something that I can drive daily. I've noticed some of the kits I've found have said they're street legal and some haven't. Does the kit have to say street legal or is that a marketing thing to get people like me to buy those instead of others? Also, are there any brands I should look for or avoid?
Thanks for the help.
