Where to buy Turbo/Intercooler

Hopefully it'll be that time pretty soon for the proyekt car so I figured that I'd get a head start on the search.. Where do you recommend to buy a turbo or intercooler from. As it stands right now I won't need anything massive, just something that can handle 20psi safely so I can push 15psi on the daily.

I looked around and it seems that I might end up buying the intercooler off of ebay, but if people know of a better place then I'm definitely all ears. The only place that I've thought to look so far was Summit, and I really wouldn't mind ordering from there since they're a reputable place.

I honestly don't know all that much about turbos so if you want to just come in here and school me on inlet/turbine/etc. sizes then do the damn deal, I'm all ears. Otherwise I'd just like to hear any places that you know of to be good and if you have any personal experiences with them then let's here that too.

It seems as if Holset is the fan favorite, why is that? <--bonus question

BTW, this isn't going on a Honda

Holset makes some really nice turbo's, similar to Garrett. Holset has been used in the industrial use for a long time, and they're lesser known in the automotive industry but that is quickly changing.

What kind of car is it going on? Turbos are application specific.

I guess this would be the time to spill the beans about the proyekt.. It's going into an 82 Datsun 280zx n/a. I've always loved them and wanted one and I finally got my chance to pick one up not too long ago and just couldn't pass it up. Lightweight 2 seater RWD with an i6 ftw!

I'm debating right now whether or not to go ahead and pick up an l28et since the lower compression would be better for boost, but I like the idea of having a little bit higher compression so that when I'm in traffic I can still have enough power to roll in a higher gear and out of boost.

I'm planning on running megasquirt on it so tuning shouldn't be a problem at all. My main thing is that I want an external wastegate, mainly because I love the sound of a screamer tube.

I can say this, even in stock form this is the most fun car that I've ever owned. Even at the 4x4 stock ride height it really handles well, and it loves to get sideways.. I've never been in a car that felt so controlled and natural when sliding sideways.

Anyways, back on topic..

i second the v8 swap idea. even if you didnt go crazy a basic crate motor with bolt ons is gonna be near or at 400 horse. and probably equal if not higher torque. = pure sex machine xD

That sounds cool but you're basically robbing the car of what it is...I love Nissan's inline 6 motors...inline 6 turbo should be really sickk...I love how nissan turboed sound too..Good luck.

^Thanks bud. Yeah, that's another one of the main reasons that I love 280zx's, those were the last models to have the i6 before the 300zxt came out and was a v6. These motors are just fantastic and they can be modified/bought relatively cheap.

If I had an older z (a 240) an sbc would be the only option. One of my dream cars is a 240z with a built sbc twin supercharged. gahhhh that would be sex.
