r18 tsi kit installed...somewhat

well as some of you know I was installing my turbo this past weekend on my civic. Everything for the most part worked out fine I took some pictures of several things that might help out some with the install but I will post them later (maybe tomorrow or wednesday). So everything is installed and no leaks are evident BUT there is one little problem. This kit is supposed to have a FIC that is pretuned for the car WELL turns out the FIC that was sent to me is not pretuned whatsoever so basically I'm sitting around waiting for pro civic to get back to me and either send me one that is tuned or send me all the data I need to just tune the one I have. The car will at least run the idle is pretty high and doesnt stay constant, it will also not respond to throttle increase. Although my brother was messing around with the fuel curve a litlle and was able to reach 2000 rpms and we got the bov to discharge and it sounds pretty awesome! I'll let you guys know whats going on when anything new happens

well first you need to remove the engine cover there are numerous bolts in the front that should be easy enough to see then there are i think 3 or 4 on the backside of it where the fuel injectors are. Then you need to unplug the spark plugs and then you should be able to pull of the cover, but be careful there is a gasket seal that you need to make sure stays intact. So once that is off then there is a fuel injector cover which you should be able to just pull off then the fuel rod is held in by 2 screws just remove those and you should be able to pull them out. So now comes the fun part I hope you have a soldering iron because the new injectors dont just simply clip in place of the old ones. So you should of gotten some wires that I believe are yellow and you should have gotten 10 of them but of course you only need 8 of them since you use 2 for each injector. So you just have to wire them up yourself since they don't just clip in place, also you dont need to use the gray adapter pieces that they give you for the injectors these actually clip in place but you still have to solder and also you have to push the wire all the way through to make them work. I might be able to get some pictures up but Im stuck at my brothers house and I might have to wait until he gets home before I can do that. Sorry if this confuses you Im trying to explain as best as I can remember

I just found out it is possible to email the MAP file. We will do this in just a bit. Just remember that you do first need to upgrade the AEM unit to v2.01. You can download the AEM software at:

F/IC SOFTWARE v2.01, NEW FEATURES ADDED, UEGO GAUGE DISPLAY

We apologize for this happening. I just spoke with TSI and they don't know why this happened either, but our best guess is someone had a stack of F/IC they were reflashing and just skipped over one. Luckily, it is easy to correct.

The higher version SHOULD work fine, but if it does not then do the 2.01 version.

I can't wait to see someone elses car in action besides the procivic video, i will make sure to hit the dyno with my aftermarket exhaust if no one has done it by the time i get my turbo install. i will be taking it to the shop on april the 23rd and should be ready in 2 to 3 days.

BTW am thinking of just boosting 8psi instead of the 6/7 the kit comes pretune for, has anyone else thought about doing that?

8psi should still be realiable, is not like we are boosting 12psi lol, am sure the d17 engine handle that much boost reiably on stock engine.

Am going to see what bumbers is pushing on the 6psi of boost it comes pretune for, and if i don't like the numbers i see i will up the boost to 8psi.

the ajp kit comes pretune for 8psi on a stock engine, so am sure it can handle it in a reliable way.
