I was wondering the same thing. I have a thought but I don't want to spread misinformation so I will wait till someone who actually knows what it really does.

it smooths out how the MAP reads boost. if you datalog with and without it you can tell.

i used same theory to regulate boost that the MAP read on my 91 crx which had the map mounted on the firewall. cept i created a little tank inline and then used a orifice to regulate it. hard to tune if your MAP readings jump all over the place.

I believe it's suppose to trick the MAP sensor

So in theory, the car should be running better with it on? I'm not sure what it is, but the one I have doesn't seem to be working on my car. The car drives fine without it, and I'm not sure how to go about installing this one. Anyone have any insight as to what I can do?

it'll run fine without it. you probably wont notice it driving. only during tuning really(where you need it to be stable for viewing/tuning). i can't see the pictures you posted but the orifice i'm talking about is a little brass piece with a tiny hole in it. if you remove your map sensor (on top of your throttle body) you just shove it in there(it will only go in one way), then use the provided washer and screw it back down ( i didn't use the washer, but it tells you to.)

without it you in theory should get erratic MAP readings during datalogging under boost. as its made to smooth out the MAP readings.

synapse makes an adapter for our MAP sensors that does exactly what the orifice does. Extremepsi.com sells them for about 50.00. I will try and get you a link.

Ah, gotcha. The orifice that I got looks nothing like what Greddy shows, and it doesn't sit flush against the MAP sensor at all, instead it pushes the entire thing out about half an inch.

No problem bro. I'm thinking about oredering one too. Let me know how it goes. It looks like it works pretty well. I've heard the orifice gets clogged up with crap and starts to fail pretty easily. So make sure youpost the results of that thing. Good luck bro...

Sorry to change things up here. But I was wondering if anyone ran a bov to blow off to atmosphere for any amount of time? I have been for about 4 days. I got a CEL light last night and was wondering if it could be because of the BOV? By the way, I have the Greddy kit.

if your going to tune with this. you're gonna need the greddy pressure sensor as you will cut off the EMU from seeing any boost levels. so when you're in the EMU and watching the screen it wont show any boost, you will have to monitor your boost gauge if you dont have boost seen by the EMU. hard to do this way.

jus a heads up

however. the missing link is just what i was looking for. i've been clamping boost voltage from the stock map sensor and tuning off the greddy pressure sensor. according to synapse it'll block from boost period. so i can tune 100% off the greddy pressure sensor with no worries how high boost gets seen at the MAP. i am going 10+ and anything spikes in the 11+ range always put my car into limp mode. gotta clear it with the obdkey and then back to tuning. pain in the ass.

very nice find. i've known about missing link for awhile. just never looked it up or understood how it worked.

this is going to open up tuning alot for us guys who wanna go in the 12+ range of boost now.

good input there soxfan!!!

i believe 2.80V is 0.5psi on the MAP sensor, this is where greddy clamps the voltage. So I'm guessing the ECU only sees 2.8V no matter what during boost.

however the MAP will read all the way up to 12.2psi according to my datalog which put me in limp mode right when it his 12.2psi.

so

0.5psi or higher = 2.8V by greddy clamping
I have 0.2psi = 2.77V where the MAP is still functioning as stock. So I guess 0.2-0.5psi is where it really clamps off, i just see 0.5psi = 2.8V on this log.

3138rpm, 3.01V MAF reading, 0.5psi/2.8V MAP reading is where i get clamped voltage on my map. obviously this will vary, its again just from the log i'm viewing now.

Where does the Greddy pressure sensor get installed? I've been considering getting the 3 bar MAP sensor before tuning.

i tapped the vacuum line right near the throttle body. then i use a blox vacuum block to feed my boost gauge, bov, pressure sensor.

How do you wire up the pressure sensor to the EMU? I have been trying to find that info for a while. And by the way. No problem with the Synapse missing link. I was wondering exaxtly how it could be used anyway. Now I know. If you could help me out with how to wire up that pressure sensor I will love you forever.... Hehe. Jk bro. Shoot me a PM and we can talk I hope. Thanks bro.

the pressure sensor can either be hardwired, or you can purchase the wiring harness which is plug n play with connectors on both ends no cutting. etc.

heres the sensor.

heres the harness.

heres. the unit.

i'll try to find better pictures. but the white wire is far left if looking at the unit like the picture. hehe not much help huh.

the greddy kit is tuned in california. which i lived for 25 years before living in VA, and 99% of the pumps are 91 octane. i believe its tuned for that. doubt greddy has a special gas pump with 93 or 92 jus to mess with people.

also if you read the manual. it says "91 octane or higher"
