the FIC is NOT an auto tuner man. You cant just plug it in and plan on your car running perfect. you need to get it professionally tuned. thats normal.

Sounds like the tuning is out of sync with the ECU. I had a similar experience when I started fiddling with the fuel map. You can trick the ECU to run richer by setting the O2 voltages lower. 2.21volts is about 14.7...where the engine is happiest. 1.8volts turns out to be about 13.6. The AEM FIC forum has a good amount of info on this. The trick is to tell the computer what O2 level you want to be at, and then compensating with enough fuel so that it doesn't have to add or subtract any to make it 14.7 like it wants on its end.
You can tell where the car is on the maps by opening up the gauges and the maps and it'll highlight where you are in the map and what the FIC is doing to the fuel system. You might think about getting a UEGO AFR gauge to help map what your AFR is doing at what PSI and RPM. Could do a short pc data log from you FIC until your car gets unstable. I could probably help diagnose some issues...it really helped for some of mine. I imagine you haven't done this, but have you tried hammering it to WOT just for kicks? At that point, the car discards the sensor readings and just dumps all the fuel and air it is told to at its mapped points. Did you calibrate the ignition timing at all or the O2 map? What is your MAP reading on the FIC reading at idle? Sorry for all the questions, I just want to help. The hardest part of any upgrade is tuning it just right |
