r18 turbo install ?

So I was wondering if anyone has installed/or is in the middle of installing the TSI kit yet. I am looking to order this kit sometime next week and I am just curious if anyone has encountered any problems or just how the overall install is going?
Thanks

I oder my kit and will be here on monday, but i will have to wait atleast another month before the install, because i have to pay the 6 month insurance and also need to save money for the Plug and play harness and the turbo timer and gauges.

So if anyone install it before me, please do a detail DIY on
it if you can.

They charge me 1k for the install around here, and i heard the install of this turbo is not that hard, so why spend 1k when i think i can try to do it myself?

the instructions are pretty easy to follow with nice colored photos (unlike those intake system instructions) i think the only part that might be difficult is the wiring unless you purchase the PnP harness which you stated you are.

I'm not an expert, but don't you have to tune it?

Yeah with an ECU such as a greedy piggy back.

If you are mechanically inclined, confident, have access to tools to make the job easier, and can live with your car being down for a few days, I say do the install yourself. You can use the money saved to buy more tools and a good tune.

I think this kit comes pre-tuned. you just have to tweak it for your specific area.

ya it is supposed to be tuned by Church who is supposed to be really good, and really no one should pay 1000 for an install unless you have absolutely no idea what to do, other than that its pretty simply...I say that now but never has an install been simple something always happens

Why will the car be down for a few days? i plan on start the install in the morning and finish it that same day, i can't have my car not running for a few days.

I have seen where most installs are done between 10 and 15 hours. That also depends on who is doing them. I bet if you lay everything out the day before. Read the instructions completely through a couple of times and make sure any questions you have are taken care a head of time you will be ok.

The only thing is the unexpected. Stuck bolts or god for bid breaking something.
Good luck.

I have absolutely zero faith in my mechanical abilities working on cars. That being said, I looked at the instructions for the install, and I think I could probably do 90%+ of it easily. Some things looked a bit confusing, but I'm sure they'd make more sense if I had my LX sitting in front of me to look at. Get someone from the 8th to help you out, everyone is always willing to help on here

A turbo is alot of tubing with the exception of the intercooler and BOV which is easy enough to put together. I would say the hard part for me would be the wiring harness if you didnt get the plug and play harness you will be having to cut and splice your ECU wires and that can be some scary stuff right there
