Sleeving a Block

I have a friend that bought a K20 from a JDM Integra Type for Head and Transmission, The Block is lying around and he told me I can have it, I want to have it sleeved and start to a build for when full-race comes out with there kit. Is the JDM K20 block same as the k20z3 in my Si???

Yup...They use Darton sleeves as part of the process. They are also doing the head work on the motor.

In case you didn't know, the stock bore is 86mm. After sleeving, you could go up to a 90mm bore, but I'd suggest going no more than 88mm if you are going to be boosting.

So what do you guys recommend, I want to make over 400, close to 500 on pump gas and over 500 on c16 on a 35R hopefully using full-race Side mounted headers, Tial 44 v-band Wastegate, external Dumptube, 3inch Downpipe and exhaust.

Are you 100% set on a sidewinder setup? If so, why?

Being that the Si's engine bay is weird and you cant really see behind the motor, I would want something on the side that would be easy to work on without have to remove the engine, I also appreciate the look factor from it. I see over at clubrsx.com that they are having great result from it. Why you interested in knowing, You want to recommend going another route?

No, I was just curious. The AJP system uses a bottom mounted turbo assembly. It is hard to see the turbo and kind of a pain to access some of the lines since they are in a tight area. The oil line was not bad, but the water lines (particularly the one closest to the block) was a pain to reach (note that I was using a water cooled turbo).

I would actually prefer either a top mount that does not go up too high or a sidewinder orientation. The only problem with the sidewinder though is you will have to relocate several of the stock hoses in the area to move them away from the manifold.

Any of the three orientations would work on the Si. The RSX on the otherhand can only use two. It can't use a bottom mounted turbo assembly because the rear motor mount is in the way.

I'd suggest reviewing your list against the thread I posted and the one posted by 07CivicMD. When you are looking at safely pushing 500whp, then you will find that your list will get really long.

Is your car a DD? If so, I would suggest beefing up the engine so that you are not pushing the limit on the stock block. Even if you stick with the stock block, at minimum you are going to need to modify or replace the stock oil pump.

^^^ why do you say that...if you are not gonna rev to 10k, it should be perfect...its not the most ideal pump, because of the parasitic drag, but the shafts help to maintain the crank balance, which is a very good thing...

I guess I'm just surprised, any other oil pump and you have to modify the oil pan, and unfortunately we don't have many options...solely because of the way the 8ths mount to the chassis...do you know something I don't? This pump should be perfect to 8500 rpm...so why change it?

What if your planning to rev to 9500 rpm? Also the amount of oil the pump can flow needs to be increased.. clutch issues with bearing..

AJP also mentioned a concern regarding cavitation on their shop car that had a 8600rpm limit.
