The ECM for the 06, 07, and 08 each have different part numbers. In addition, when comparing the code loaded on the 06 and 07 ECM, there is a noticable difference. The 07 ECM software also added code to support the traction control system and tire pressure monitoring system. The TPMS is not used on the 07 but was activated on the 08 models. I am not sure if the code differences between the 07-08 models was as extensive as the 06-07 models.

this is most promising news.
IF and i mean IF there is no coded software and its all open based programming like the older rsx ecus then hondata should just give up on our USDM ecu's all together. with the knowledge they know of the previous K series ecus a non coded jdm ecu should take no longer then a few months to crack or even less. then its import jdm ecus by the CRATE LOADS and time to open up the can of worms on the 8th gen. |

no doubt. if there putting in the grind work they should protect it.
what i was getting at is the jdm ecu will offer them the option to freely crack the system. put a kpro on it and code it back up to protect tampering with relative ease. especially compared to our ecu which is locked up tighter then a catholic nuns panties. i think all of us just want a solution at this point and it should take them no time at all to get one moving forward if they ditch the usdm ecus all together and go with the jdm platform. if of course all this turns out to be true and the jdm ecus indeed have no cipher code. |

Quick question guys, for ECU gurus
how does: Grey Connector Pin 34 GRN/YEL VTS (ROCKER ARM OIL CONTROL SOLENOID) Drives rocker arm oil control solenoid interact with Green Connector pin 22 BLU/BLK VTPSW (ROCKER ARM OIL PRESSURE SWITCH) Detects rocker arm oil pressure switch signal With engine at low speed: about 0 V / With engine at high speed: battery voltage and Green Connector pin 23 BLU/WHT VTC (VTC OIL CONTROL SOLENOID VALVE) Drives VTC oil control solenoid valve With ignition switch ON (II): about 0 V thanks in advance |

Well the one problem that sticks out in my mind with the jdm ecu is that vin's are stored on usdm ecu's so when you go to get inspected you would need to swap back which isn't a big deal but still. Unless honda's are different than subarus.
Also the other thing i may be confused about is the cypher is what is holding everything back and is proving hard to crack however no one is saying its impossible correct? I mean sounds to me like we all need to be contacting some nice young people at mit to figure this out for us. |

If I missed this, I apologize, but will the programmable ECU that Hondata releases be able to control DBW so that the lag can be eliminated? Again, I'm sorry if this has been covered.

I hate to inform you guys but the JDM Type R does NOT use a MAF sensor. I have been trying to adapt the Mugen air box from the Type R to my SI and it won't work because it doesn't have a MAF sensor. Samco is developing a special intake tube to adapt the MAF sensor into the Mugen airbox. So the theory about the type R ECU working on our cars is not possible. Unless it's capable of running a MAF sensor also. But I doubt it.
