RedShift S/C Info

From RedShiftMotorsports.com website... our newest update:
http://redshift.informe.com/viewtopic.php?t=54

After spending 2 days completely wiping my computer clean and starting over (argh!!!....haven't done that in 4 years!!!)...... I'm more or less back in business now. Thanks goodness that's done.

The newest update is that we have Wes's 2005 RSX-S running in stock configuration now. We will be setting the car up this week for baseline analysis with our combustion pressure system. We have to prep the crank pulley as a trigger wheel and mount the eye to read it. We also are waiting for a software update from the manufacturer before we can re-install it. I put the request into this Friday and I'm expecting it immediately.

We have our charger mounted on the Comptech manifold now. As soon as we get our baseline, we'll be switching to the Comptech/Lysholm setup. And we'll be doing some testing. First we'll do air temp datalogs with bolt the Lysholm and Comptech setups. That will let us compare the supercharger efficiencies. Next we'll be doing actual combustion analysis on the supercharged RSX (with the RedShift Lysholm setup).

The manifold is not long from being sent to casting for a prototype quote. We have a few things still to do before we do that.

Like I said last week, things are going to start happening quickly here.

Cheers all,
Chris at RedShift

i just cant wait to see the comptech eaton vs. redshift lysholm stage one kit differences. I wonder how much more power the twin screw will make over the roots.

I have seen inital 3 dimensional manifold pics.....It looks SICK!!! Once there finalized I am sure Chris will post them. Really cool that one manifold will be able to be use three ways, I just found that mind boggling.

I know, and the fact that they are almost ready for prototyping is extremely impressive.

we think we'll be doing CARB testing, but at $5k per application, it's something we'll have to make sure there is value in it. It's obvious to me that the Civic Si is going to be worthwhile; so I would assume we'll be doing that one. But we will likely only be doing Stage 1 as the CARB kit.

I agree, and I've voiced this before. They said it's unlikey stage 2-3 would pass CARB.

To those that say screw CARB I'm with you, but the fact is that many of us here in Cali don't want to go to the hassle to remove and reinstall a kit at smog time or when we get pulled over. Yes, CARB is a racket however, nothing more...

Engineers are designing our manifold as we speak. This isn't just a simple bolt on and go this thing needs to work 3 ways,

Well Clai isn't the smallest market so Stage 1 only will probably be carbed.

id be plenty happy with a stage one kit being carb approved as long as the kit makes the right amount of the power to very well keep the car in the daily driver stage...i in no way want to be swapping transmissions, drivie axles and all that other crap. just a simple bolt on with stock everything else would be awesome. just for more low end ya know?

the problem is that stage 1, 2, and 3 being CARB exempts means spending about $15,000 to test it. So, for every car we do, for every stage, that could end up being $50,000 in testing fees very easily.

So, it's not that we don't want to do it.... but it has to make financial sense. So we'll start with Stage 1 only, and if enough people want Stage 2 or 3 and require CARB exemption, then we will consider it.

Chris

^^ so you have to get each kit you produce tested? That doesn't sound very nice. I thought you would just get one kit tested, it passes, and you slap that EO # on that bad boy and everyone after that. So what happens with an intake or header? Would you have to send every one of those to CARB to get them approved before you could sell the part?

Or do you mean the CARB fee is 15,000 per test? because earlier you said its 5g per test.

It's 5Gs to test each kit. There is a Stage I, II, and III. Do the math.
