Gearing?

Are there any options for gearing for the Si? I'm a Mustang guy, so this seems like a standard mod to me. From what I can tell, it seems like the Si has equivalent to maybe 4.10's or 4.30's, which is great for NA.

It seems to me for an FI application, that something taller like a 3.73 equivalent would work better (like what most FI Mustangs use). I've seen the AJP videos and saw some people comment that it doesn't seem much faster than stock, but I thought it might be due to the aggressive gearing.

Thoughts? Anyone know what gearing our Si's have?

I am pretty sure we have the same gearing as a JDM Dc5. THe 5.062 FD is really sick it will cause slightly higher rpm's on highway cruising, but in like 1-3 its insane, and allows for 6th to be a "pulling" gear.

The FG2 does not have the same gearing as the JDM DC5.

The FG2's 4th, 5th, and 6th, are all different from the JDM DC5's gearing. The FG2 does have the same Final Drive.

The FG2 transmission is similar to the 02-06 RSX-S. The closest match is the 05-06 RSX-S.

The gearing between the FG2 and 05-06 RSX-S is IDENTICAL except for 6th gear. (FG2 has LSD, RSX does not)

The 6th gear in the FG2 is the same as the 04-06 TSX.

The 6th gear in the FG2 SUCKS compared to the 02-06 RSX-S in terms of performance. The FG2's 6th gear is good for cruising and gas mileage, but for top end, the 5th to 6th shift causes the FG2 to fall on it's face. The RSX-S has much better 6th gear acceleration. That would be the first place I'd start if I were to change gears.

So a simple FD swap to the 5.062 would be very benifical and still allow for good hiway cruising. And while your in there a replacment LSD wouldn't hurt But that is another thread soon :)
