Update on Comptech I/H/E info, Hondata w/SC, etc.

Hey guys, just thought I'd share this. I shot an e-mail to Comptech this afternoon and here was the reply. Hope this helps anyone curious about the same thing:

Quote:
Hello,
I am purchasing the supercharger for the 06 Si and I had two quick questions. First, I currently have the Hondata reflash including the rev hang update from Honda. When I send my ECU for flashing to work with the supercharger, how will it be affected? VTEC point, rev hang, etc?

Second, I am very interested in getting Comptech's intake, short header, and catback exhaust. About when can we expect these items to be released so I can install them in preperation for the S/C.

Thanks for your help,
Rob

Rob,
The header, intake, and exhaust are coming out within the next week or so. As far as the reflash, I do know that it lowers the vtec engagement point from stock, I do not know exactly what rpm though. Rev hang and other questions you would have to talk to a tech here about. You can reach us here at (888)626-6783.

no, not yet, ha ha. I'm in the middle of a computer class in the campus library basement right now, ha ha ha. I'm supposed to be doing some sort of spreadsheet formula with the rest of the class, but 1/2 the people are on AIM, 1/2 on websites, etc.

If you don't get around to it, I'll give them a call in the morning. I'm only interested in the header, but if you all have any other questions lemme know and I'll ask them.

When you talk to them ask them why they need this...

Includes Comptech's new ACM (Advanced Control Module) to add fuel in boost, lower VTEC, and clamp MAP sensor voltage

I no expert when it comes to modding engines but can't this be controled by the ECU with a reflash?

that's basically what it is just worded so it sounds like it's Comptech doing it instead of Hondata.

This was what my friend emailed me when I mentioned the new SC...this was the only reason I brought it up.

Strange... the Comptech requires a re-flash for the ECU, but at the same time uses a separate fuel controller in boost. They should control fuel in boost through the ECU. Those fuel controllers are piggy back. That sucks. Piggy back is a waste when you can re-flash the ECU. BTW, they are even controlling VTEC through the piggy back module. That can be bad because it doesn't control the fuel maps for VTEC like the ECU does. I've dealt with this before and it is a pain!
