Vtec Controller

Just wondering if any of you have purchased a vtec controller, and if you have did you get any real good gains. I have been thinking about it but I was wanting to get some other opinions before I went out and spent the money.

Well, when I dyno'd my car the week before last they recommended one. But, I'm going with forced induction so for now it'd be a waste. For mid range gain though why not get the reflash or is it the vtec kicking in at 4k rpm that you're unsure of?

I didn't think it was possible to use a vtec controller on our cars. Is there one available that works? I want to get the apexi neo, but I also want some FI.

It was a suprise to me as well when they said that. I wasn't aware of our ability to use them but I just nodded my head. When he was done I just said, "I've already spoken to Matt about it. You guys will be intalling the turbo on my car come March." Then I grinned like a mad woman. He just said," Well, screw the controller then. Turbo? On a new SI? This is gonna be fun."

. I love my F-ing car!

Plug-n-play VTEC controllers are not as plug-n-play as they seem. Merely changing the VTEC engagement point does not result in more horsepower simply because fuel and (sometimes) timing must be changed accordingly in order to achieve the desired results.

That's a good question jimmy. If you intend on going Turbo, then do not get a reflash unless you are sure that it is (1) compatable with a tubocharger upgrade -or- (2) there will be a reflash in the future that supports tubocharging in which case you would get it at the same time or change flashes -or- (3) there will be a fully tunable Hondata program in the future -or- (4) love the reflash now and have it flashed back to the factory flash upon installation of the turbocharger.

Hope this helps.

first off a vtec controller will not work on its own with the newer ecm's without an specific interface which allows access to the open loop side of the ecm.

second if you need a reflash contact at 954-636-7992 official hondata dealers

Doesn't that mean though that it will work under wide open throttle?

a WOT tune is best suited for power while a partial throttle is best for drivability/economy
