Don't feel bad that's what I got friday... It's letting off the clutch slowly, and not just popping your foot off. If you're doing this in the launch it helps to reduce the tire spin.

Not to mention it will put major wear and tear on your clutch.

post up your entire time slip, it should be pretty obvious where you're going wrong... (launch, etc.)

the track takes a while to get used to... launching at the strip is different than launching on the street. the street it's just you and the pavement. at the strip, you have layers of burnt rubber and VHT, etc. also, many people don't know to drive AROUND the waterbox... FWD car + stock michelin street tires (wet) + track newb trying to launch = 2.5, 2.6 or worse 60 ft's.

I haven't gotten the Civic out yet, but last year was my first time ever going to the strip in my RSX-S. My first 2 times to the track, I couldn't pull better than a 2.4 and I kept getting poor times for the mods I had done, high 14's and low 15's. the 3rd and 4th times I learned how to pull consistant 2.2's (not bad for a non-LSD and OEM all season street tire FWD car) in the RSX and my times dropped a 1/2 second just like that. By the end of the year, I picked up a set of drag radials and was pulling 2.0's, breaking into the 8's in the 1/8th, and running flat 14's (just CAI, RH, exhaust, drag radials). (this is me and my friend: http://videos.streetfire.net/player....C-834E7C74EBB3 ).

So what I'm getting at with my long story is this: practice makes perfect, your first time out in a new car, it's going to take some getting used to, learning what works and what doesn't. Also sometimes the track just wasn't prepped all that great and you get that working against you.

Main thing's I can reccomend for your bone stock car, lower the tire pressure in the front to 22-25 psi (depends on driver). Launch the car between 3500-4500 (some have done higher at the 5500 cutoff and been succesful, to me this depends on track temp, and surface for it to work right without wheelspin). Lastly, feather the gas if you're spinning the wheels, just kind of ease off of it and lay back into it to try and hook up... leaving the accelerator floored will just leave you spinning in place and shifting too early will cause you to bog out in 2nd.

Just practice. Hope this helps some, or at least gives you a little insight and encourages you to keep at it. I'm glad I did.

It's just something you've gotta feel out. Hopefully, after some time and getting to know your car, you'll be able to sense where you went wrong and without thinking about it too much, make the proper adjustments next time. Sit in your car prior to the actual race and just go through the motions and think "Clutch up up up up up full throttle"...whatever it takes.

The first step to solving a problem is to identify it, after that, you only have to change your actions which IMHO is the hardest part because it's all reflex and reaction, not planned, staged, and rehersed like a WWF match.

Good luck and don't give up. 40+ runs and you'll have it down perfectly.

slap yourself. slap yourself now. running anything other than 91 will not operate correctly in your car. Its like. drinking vodka and trying to run.. or go through a day drinking vodka all day.
