DC Sports Header
How much louder will an Si be if I add a DC Race Header? I will retain the stock muffler or even add a mellow aftermarket one but my goal is NOT to have it sound like this:
http://www.eletech.com/Products/Kidd...s/airplan1.wav I know it replaces the catalytic converter. Thanks for any input ! |

just the race header alone with the stock exhaust will be fine. that's what I'm running and I'm happy with the sound. I've gotten lots of compliments on it... below 4 grand, with moderate acceleration as well as idle it sounds bone stock... but floor it and it really opens up and gets throaty. best of both worlds, gains and good sound.

Use a pair of spark plug defoulers, I'm a few thousand miles and not a single check engine light. Quote:

I'm definitely going to wait for a Comptech or someone of better quality than DC. As of now, I plan on keeping the stock exhaust to keep the look and not be so damn noisey. My integra had a DC header with a Skunk2 exhaust. Thing sounded great under 4k but still loud. Get over 4k and all hell broke loose. It definitely was to loud but was fun at some given times.
I plan on keeping this one quieter though. |

My plan is to keep the Si quiet. All of the cars I've owned I've done the exhaust. My 89 Si DOHC (JDM) had a very sweet exhaust note. Custom resonator and a turbo-type muffler and twin tips. 4-2-1 header too, but very nice sounding.
Too bad I didn't save a clip of it. |

I can smell it a little bit if I idle in my garage for a while, but I know what you're talking about with older cars and it simply isn't the case for us. |

I reccomend using the defouler method to avoid CEL. I am a few thousand on my Si and not a single one yet... had the same setup on my RSX for over 10,000 miles, no CEL there either. http://www.k-series.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8833 You're going to take a 1/2" drill bit and bore out ONE of the defoulers. screw the secondary O2 into that, and then screw that into an untouched defouler (piggyback) and then into the pipe. |
