NA build of K20Z3 motor

Hello, i just wanted to start a thread pertaining to our engine build. I will most likely start with pictures of the engine removal, try to leave some notes in how-to form. This entire build is being done with Hy-tech Exhaust, a company with repeat success in tuning honda engines. Hondata will be doing the programming on this engine as well, stepping up the bar with new programming for this engine.

Currently a header has been mocked up, which will undoubtedly be the best in the market (just as hy-tech has a reputation for making one of the best B16 and B18 headers). The exhaust will be magnaflow for street, but hy-tech exhaust for race (i believe we're going to get very loud results for the race exhaust). Stayed tuned to this thread on a weekly basis for updates.

NEXT WEEK:
You'll be the first to know what type of components will be going into the engine (however details of part numbers and specifics will be revealed as the SEMA show gets closer). Also the pictures of the engine removed (Along with some notes) will be posted
If at anytime you have a question about any of the pictures or data posted, feel free to pm me.

The vehicle at hand can be seen below. This is the MJH Sound Civic Si.

i do respresent mjh sound here. It seems the shop missed some good picture opportunities on the engine pull. However, i still want to post what we got, and im going to personally go down to see the car today to obtain some pictures of the engine and the engine bay. If there are any particular pictures you guys want to request of a particular part of the engine, let me know. I want to keep this as interactive as possible

For the guy that commented on the body kit. For future reference, you can obtain that from mjh sound, email sales@mjhsound.com for any parts you see that you might want.

I will post pictures of the engine bay later today. Thanks

Here are some quick initial pics of the engine bay with no engine. Give you an idea of whats hanging around once you take out the powerplant. You'll see a little Sun auto Hyper Ground/Voltage Kit, and a couple of distribution block hanging on the right side. Ignore those as they will be removed and reinstalled in a more "pretty" format for lack of better term. enjoy

Here are some intial pics of the block. The head is being sent out today to be polished and to have valve work done to increase air flow (valve seats will be cut at new angles specified by Hy-tech Exhaust in order to achieve maximum air flow for our application) . Sorry for the slow posting, but this thread will be updated periodically over the next 4 weeks, so just check back at your convenience.

Ok so just to re-iterate, you want posts to be on topic and to be comments about the pictures or aspects of the build. Posts should be specific, not general like.... That's so cool!? (Hint for those of you that missed that)

Back on topic.. Did you do a pre-build dyno?

Im just saying man. I am interested in the engine progress build, im not trying to hi-jack your thread. Gosh damn, the filter looks like a pain in the ass to replace.

Yea, i'd imagine that the filter is acutally angled down 20 degrees when the engine is in the car, and the from below you can twist it right out. But i have no idea, cause I never personally changed the oil. In any case, This vehicle dyno'd in at 197 wheel horsepower with the cold air intake back when we first got it a year ago. The goal here is to add 100 hp at the flywheel. Can we meet the goal? Only time will tell (please dont post saying, "you cant do that" , just wait for the results ;-) )
