Aftermarket pistons...

Checked out the new super street magazine today and saw in the back they had a picture of the AEM CAI for the si and above it, they had pistons for the 06 si too... the company is supertechperformance.com... checked their site and they didn't have anything for any car... so i dont know if they are higher compression for N/A or lower compression for boost.

Pistons/rings, rods, valves and valve springs have been out for quite some time. I posted prices awhile ago, before this site merged with 8thgencivic.com, but I don't think that thread ever made it here.

WOW...i was just about to start a thread on this...
i'm looking to maybe strengthen my motor in the near future and was just looking around for some pistons and rods etc. etc...

i know where to find valve springs and retainers and so on.

was checking out crower rods and maybe wiseco pistons with a 9.0:1 compression....all forged...i was hoping to find pistons between 9 and 10 :1 but that's all i found..
Wiseco specifies for their pistons for the K that u get iron sleeve...what r they and where do u get those...info. would be appreciated for those who decide on wiseco or any other brand that may need it.

so who wants to help on my quest?

i want....
pistons....preferably wiseco
rods....preferably crower
and anything else that may be needed for a boost application..

DAB2005 i am calling u now to discuss this also :)

iron sleeving is a process of adding iron rings (basically that run the length of the cylinder wall ) to an engine that has an alum. block. by adding the iron to the inside of the cyl wall you thereby strengthen the cyl wall by a great deal. there is debate on how much they say it strengthens the cylinders, but basically everyone agrees atleast 2 times the strength. its a safety issue and usually its a machine shop that can do it for you.

so in all reasoning it helps you not blow up your engine.

*i'm adding this part*
a lot of engines use iron sleeves right from the factory. iron is heavy and is not always wanted to build engines these days, by alum is weak and usually brittle. so the factory's add the sleeve. one engine in particular that has done this and had amazing success is chevy and the lsx small block v8.

The SRT-4 engine has also been very successful and very competitive.

i see absolutely no reason to resleeve a k series block unless you want over 500hp. this i know from extended experience. the k series have a thinner inner lining but have a tremendous amount of aluminum outside the inner lining which acts as a extremely supportive brace.
