Walbro fuel pump DIY

Mods I tried to do this in the DIY section but it said I did not have the rights, so I'm putting it here. Feel free to move it.

This is a Walbro 255 LPH-HP fuel pump install. Just don't buy from procivic.com they suck. club rsx or corsport and your golden.

Don't get the install kit because we don't use it. This will work on all civic's 06-09.
What you need:
Walbro pump
Philips #2
Large flat tip screwdriver
12mm socket, rachet, extension
o-ring from stock injector (Honda p/n: 91302-PNA-003, thanks mucter for the pn)

razor blade
misc rags....
Approx 1 hour from start to finish

I did this on a '06 FG2

First empty your trunk, and remove the rear seat backrests (don't know if you need to remove the bottom cushion on the sedans). Then remove the trunk liner, and unbolt the steel brace over the access cover.

Unbolt the access cover and disconnect the electrical plug to the pump.

take a rag and wipe the dirt off the assembly, ya mine was filthy. You'll want to do that before you disconnect the fuel so you don't have a huge mess.

Disconnect the breather tube and the fuel line, unscrew the assembly and remove it from the tank. You will spill some fuel so don't be smoking durning this step.

Thats the assembly in all its glory.

Here it is compressed.

Disconnect the electrical plug, and pop the three tabs that hold the bottom cover on.

Now you can see the filter, and the bottom fuel pump cover. Pop off those three tabs. And pull the pump out.

remove the white space from the output of the stck pump, don't loose it. Remove the bottom cover, rubber insulator, and filter from pump.

Take the razor blade and slice off about a 1/8th of an inch of the rubber where it is in contact with the pump. I wish I took a pic of that. Also I took a pair of needle nose pliers and removed two of the notches from the bottom of the pump. You will understand what I'm talking about when you have the parts in your hand. remove the original oring from the fuel pump assembly. Install the spacer and inj o-ring onto the output of the Walbro. Install the rubber insulator, bottom cover, and filter.

Install the assembled pump into the pump assembly, pop the three tabs (if its nor going together easily then trim up the rubber insulator some more). Install the assembly bottom cover, plug the electrical connector back on, and put the whole assembly back into the fuel tank reverse of removing it.

When its all installed and connected (make sure you don't have any "extra parts", lol) turn the ignition to II for about 10 seconds to prime the pump. Start that mofo up and enjoy. This is a easy mod and its absolutely nessecary if you are running boost w/ larger injectors.

first, damn why is your **** so dirty in that covered area, looks like someone poored dust in the back of your car.

two, why did you upgrade to the walboro, do you have FI? dont really see why its needed

I think it was from the dirt roads that I have driven on, thats the top of the tank so dust and wutnot can get on it.

I'm boosted and the stock pump started to peter out on me in VTEC cause all kinds of knocking. Soxfan had the same problem, I have 410cc injectors and he has 450cc injectors. I haven't heard of too many people with the 370cc's needing a new pump. The boosted RSX-S have the same problem. The stock pump is fine for stockish engine but doesn't last long with a bigger load.

I know that Walbro 255 pumps have a unique whine sound to them, how does it sound in the car? Do you even notice a difference in the cabin?

just did this today with a local memeber. was around 9am EST, this wasn't up...lol. got soxfan on the phone and he gave us the info we needed.

Correction, it was a brisk north carolina morning and I definitely heard the whine, a very sexy whine.

Nice job guys. Perfect DIY. The only thing you left out was the pickup screen. You will have to remove the pickup screen from the old one and transfer it to the Walbro and reuse the push on clip. So don't just bulldog the clip off.

You will notice the infamous Walbro whine more as time goes by. It seems to get louder as it "breaks in", so to speak. Mine is really loud now. But it's a good sound.

no. pump is removed from inside the car.
