Why did you buy a Civic EX, AUTO then if you were ready to feel this bad?

Is this a Sedan? if so, then you ought to kick yourself in the head for feeling bad for trying. Its a Sedan, Auto. Let it go man or you should have done more research if you planed to race your car all the time. If you want then, get a swap or turbo or both but then whats the point of getting a 4dr civic and auto? You may as well get the SI Sedan coming out then or just get an SI coup in the first place. Better yet, get a RSX or Integra Type R

...gimme some advice as to how to gain more horses without ruining the warranty

Add a CAI would be the best bet. :-)
(A manual would be easier to get into the grunt range, but I know, it's an AT.)

My manual EX coupe is fun to drive, but I am aware of it's limitations, too.
It's not a car with lots of straight-line acceleration, but the tight suspension and quick steering make for lots of fun on the twisties. That's how I view my car. If I wanted to blow the doors off other cars, I'd not be driving a Civic.

<edit> This thread is almost a month old...sheesh.

get you a good lightweight wheels and good tires so you don't skid when turning unless you go 100mph in a sharp turn..

Damn, if you were looking for power, why didn't you buy a SI? I have a Civic DX-G Manual and I love it a lot.

The question is: Does this guy have money to buy a better car, cause I don't think there's a car out there for this price that has this much style, mpg, or hp combination. Like Jesus said, "Give a jerk a fish, and he'll complain it's lacking flavor and that the meat is grissly. That man shall not be taught to fish."

The R18 can get up and scoot, not haul mind you. If your shifting a little above 6K it pulls pretty decent.

Well I don't know if it pulls. It does get good gas mileage.

For my LX, anytime the RPM's are falling around 4k after a shift the thing pulls fairly well. We are talking about 140 hp here.

It feels faster than a camry.Use a good, thin synthetic as it will help with the vtec & cut the lag.

At the 5th gear in auto is great for high speed cruising as it keeps rpms incredibly low.

Honestly... He should stop bitching about a car he willingly purchased, knowing he was "used to' driving a minivan that was powerful "engine-wise"... Serious, like others have said, don't complain when you know what you were getting yourself into.

I bought an EX Coupe due to the fact I was home on vacation on a one-way ticket to buy an Si... No luck, no Si's within 50 miles, and I wasn't going to force my parents to travel that far to find one seeing they were helpping me finance the car in the first place. So you know what? I was a little upset I was stuck getting an EX, but I got over it. My EX was the only one left in the area...

Although I know of the perks of having an Si over an EX, I'm happy to have a simple EX. I mean, I wrecked my car on a long drive to CA from AZ, and it made me cry... I couldn't stand driving anyone else's car other than mine. I'm stuck using my mom's old 94 EX Accord for the time being...

I wasn't all too enthusiastic about modding my car, but after not being on the forum really since my accident and now seeing they're finally getting somewhere by having an exhaust available too for an R18 engine, I got all giddy again. I CAN'T WAIT TO GET MY EX BACK!

If you wanted more power, you should have just gone higher than a Civic EX... Plain and simple, just don't complain. We all bought our cars for whatever reason to do what we feel is neccessary to get them the way we want. There are sacrifices to get there, but if you want it, you go for it. You won't keep an EX's great MPG and gain tremendous HP at the same time. You can't have everything.

With My EX, I have the style I want with the power I need to get by... If my need grows more than the car's potential, I'll move on... But honestly, I'll drive my car 'til it can't be driven anymore...

Do what you want to get what you need in a car, but seriously...

Don't ever bitch about a fine piece of machinery like OUR 8th Gen Civics...

I haven't been on this site in awhile. i been pretty busy with school. n when i came back i saw this thread still goin on, i wuz like huh? Now i know i posted this thread up saying 140 horses isn't enough, buh yeah i took a lot of your guys' advice and actually did them. i jus turned in three applications to various places in my town so i can start savin money to get some serious mods. yes i am just waiting until september (hiring season) for any of them to call me back. I also took the advice of someone else on here that said of racing tc's and vans, just race slower cars and haha yup! I started racing cars that i knew had lower horses than my civic, so that boosted my ego pretty good. But also i wanna say sorry for posting such degrading thread about the econobox. i know that it even has more horsepower than the older civics, but i was just so used to my old car. All in all, u guys helped me a lot. I'll be sure to post a thread up for my any new mods!

I don't consider any new car purchase a good purchase due to the fact of "drive out depreciation".

However, I have to say, after much research, the Civic EX was the best buy. Consumer reports also wouldn't lie and the demand def. shows the machine worth its design. So if your just looking for more power, test drive before you bitch. Its like the cart before the horse theory, you jumped in like a adolecene and now your wining because you didn't have guidence.

All I can say to you is, learn to adapt or go trade/sell it and get something more perky for your taste then and bitch on other things too. Your going to eventually find yourself at a mental loop on bitching because you can't have it all in a car. This is as close as it gets. Wait several more years then and maybe you can get your sufficient force and gas.

Okay so in the afternoon i saw a Tc coming out of a gas station and he was coming up behind me and started to tailgate. then he decided to pass me, so i floored it. i gave him some comp, but then he eventually took me within 5 seconds.... i was like damn....
Then later on that night i was driving down the street minding my own business and then i saw some lights flashing me from behind that caught my eye. i saw that he going to overtake me, so i floored it... took me within 3 seconds. Yesterday i felt like i made a disgrace to the whole civic reputation.... sorry guys...
I really want more horses, can someone gimme some advice as to how to gain more horses without ruining the warranty. I just basically want some faster acceleration, i don't really care about that top speed stuff. Thanks..

yeah when someone is passing you
you should NEVER speed up to keep them from passing you
someone did that to me when i tried to pass and it ends up with that person trying to pass you anyway and causing a serious problem for cars coming ahead
or a racing ticket if a cop sees it
or they will pull in behind you and be pissed
if you dont like ppl passing you drive faster
