Renting Jet Skis?

I have never done this and thought about doing it this spring break. What is involved in renting a jet ski? Do I need any prior certifications? All I have is a generic driver's license with a motorcycle endorsement. Any help is appreciated.

Also what do the rates normally run for a couple hours?

all you need is a lincense and ur good to go. IT is expensive....usually about 90 dollars for an hour or so and time flies pretty quick

In st augustine here it's generally about $70-75 an hr. I'm hoping to do that soon too since my boy (who was at the meet today too) knows the owner of the place here that rent's 'em. :) bwuahahahaz.

I rent them in daytona fl when im down there usually 70 for a hour but everything goes up when spring break comes around.....like mentioned TIME FLYS and its alot of fun

not going to put the spot on blast but the one spot i rented from i later found out from another spot that the owner of the rental place basically killed a young kid 17 by telling him he was allowed to go out into the ocean and drive...the owner told this kid that becuase the kid was with like 8 other friends and the owner didnt want to loose them...the kid flipped the jet ski into a jetti (dont know if i spelt it right) the rocksby the inlets...O.P just remember to stay in the area your told and eveything will be perfect

Yea I will be avoiding jettis, piers, etc. and definately cruising the area first to check for anything hazardous

I know in Pinellas county they have you fill out a temp boaters license. Dont know about other area's but its good to have.

Also if you rent from smaller places like in Johns Pass(st. Pete) it is usually about 50 for a hour.

part 1: yes they had me take a online boaters coarse(well the worker took it for me cause once again they just want the business so they will do whatever it takes)

part 2: yeah i would imagine so because they get less business and they would figure cheaper price people would preferr to go to them
