I saw a car guy on TV that claims that is always best to pour some oil into a new oil filter before installing it during an oil change. Seems like a good idea but I have never done it before. Your thoughts?

Also, FYI, AA has some oil change specials going. Looks like a good deal to me. Thinking about going with the pure one deal for $18.99.

im upgrading my sytem to a kicker 15 and a kicker 1000.1 amp and redoing all my wires so i figured id help out and post how i did it so i hope it clears up any confusion

TURN YOUR RADIO DOWN

step 1: pulling out all interior pieces where you running the wires ( i didnt do this but it makes it a million times easier if you do) driver side pannel, piece under seat belt in middle , rear side pannel piece, hood realease panel, and the bottom half of the rear seat.. all the panels listed just pull and tug they will come out... the driver side panel piece where the trucnk release is, theres a screw underneath where trunk lock is take that screw out then pull on the piece

1.first find where your running your power wire through the fire wall. you can see in this pic there is a hole to the right of the gas pedal (dont think it will fit a zero gauge but my 4 gauge went through just fine

2.here it is ran into the hole, i fed a foot or 2 out of the hole so that i could grab it when its in the engine bay

3.as you can see ( the blue wire) its not very easy to get to, i used a pry bar and moved the wire around til my hand could squeez in to get it

4.now you can see the screw that i was talkin about that needs to b removed

5.i ran mine as far away from the panel as i could so that it wouldnt interupt putting my panel back on or it bulgding from the wiring being in the way

6. me personally since i had three wires to run ( the power, remote, and bass controller for the amp) i put zip ties around all three wires so they arent sloppy looking and easier to run back all at once)

7. pull back the weather stipping to make removeing the center piece under the seatbelt easier then give a firm pull at top middle and bottom thats where the clips are

8.this is with the bottm half of the seat lifted up as u can see on the bottom panel where peoples feet kick theres a pin underneth the seat also, all you have to do is grab on one of the edges and give a firm pull

9. this is the back flooring i pushed mine toward the middle as much as possible like i said before so theres no problems putting the panels back in or bulging

10.this is ran up underneath the back seat but dont get to close to the bracket that the seat pops into that way theres no issues

11. fold the seat half way down push the wires up through the crack and grab and pull the slack with the right hand

12.the carpeting piece that covers up the lip is held in with 2 clips just give a firm pull. Theres two bolts take you pick for your ground. i used the left one because thats the side of my amp where the power remote and ground are that way your not using more ground wire than your supposed to

13. this is with the ground connected. take a good look at the plastic piece for the carpeting because ill be cutting that later

14. heres the plastic piece after i cut it ( this is because my amp is a decent size and i couldnt sneak my wires around the far carpeting piece) so i cut it so that i could just run my wires up and over and still be able to clip the piece back in and not buldging up.

15. heres the LOC sorry i dont have full pics of this install because i already had it in for my previous system but i ran my rcas over and down ( the silver and black wire) just look up towards the rear deck you can see them

16. you can access both left and rear speaker wires towards the driver side speaker and i connected all my wires right here ( you can see 2 sections of e-tape) if your not sure, follow the pas side speaker wire towards the driver side and you will see where they meet.

17. this is where i ran the remote into the fuse box ( i chose the radio fuse and put it on the top side of it thats the on and off side) splice your wire to have about a half inch of wire exposed so that you can wedge it into the top and still be able to get the fuse back in.

18. hook all your wires up to the amp (all the wires power, ground, remote, rca's, and the bass controller if you have one.)

19.hook your wire up to the battery ( you can see i attaached it to the back side of the posotive terminal and cut out the plastic around it so that it would still stay down and look like factory)

20. put the fuse in the fuse holder ( i wouldnt suggest mounting your fuse holer here but i have some very small screws that werent long enough to poke through the other side)

21. make sure the raido is down turn the key on and make sure everything works

22. if you bought a brand new setup make sure that you follow the break in guide!!!

if you have any issues make sure the wat the problems is. one thing you can do is test to make sure you have power ( a test light or even a wired led or neon or something of the sort will work. the reason i say that is i usually use a wired led lol just cuz i have tons of them laying around) touch the ground to the ground on the amp and the posotive of watever your using to the posotive on the amp if you get light then its an remote issue which is an easy fix just make sure the wire is in the fuse box correctly if your unsure just run it to the posotive on the fuse box to make sure its a remote issue

if anyone has any questions give me a shout post a reply or pm me thanks!!
sorry for the spelling its not the greatest lol

my aux install :hey guys i know its a little late but, i have seen so many people ask about doin the female end and splicing and attaching to the car. so last night i got bored and figured id give it a shot so here it is lemme know if this helps or not.

pins are listed from left to right with the connector tab facing up
pin 1: right channel audio
pin 2: left channel audio
pin 3: audio ground
pin 4: not used
pin 5 connect 5 and 6 together to get to switch from cd to aux
pin 6: connect 5 and 6 together to get to switch from cd to aux

here is the connector that is needed for the aux cable to splice into, i cut the blue tape to get some slcak

then i cut the electrial tape to get some more to make life easy

youre suppoesed to conmect pin 5 and 6 together (to be able to switch from cd to aux so i just connected them with a smal wire and teped them up then i tape pin 4 to it also because its not used so i did it to get it out of the way for no confusion

here it is with all the wires stripped and ready to be connected

here is the femaile connector that your gonna need

here it is after its cut and stipped ( black and red are right and left ) (the open wire that is wrapped around everything is the audio ground)

then you need to figure out where u want to mount it .. as you can see in this pic i mounted right on the center console.. but something that make this easy just drill out a smaller hole than needed and because its surronded in rubber that has give in it you can slowly dremmel out how big you need it and slowly wedge it in there as i was starting to in this pic

here is the finished product with the male end plugged in not to shabby

let me know wat u guys think..... sorry about the crappy pics but its the stupid iphone for ya

hello, today i installed 18 inch led stips underneath the headlights kind like a new audi look a like hope some other people like this and use it makes the front end look evil at night. ( you have to get the led stips with the leds on the side of the stip not the ones that point down directly)

first: removing the bumper.

remove 2 clips like this

remove the bottom clips from driver and pas side of the bottoms plastics

gently pull the lip from out of the grill and from underneath the side plastics

remove the allen keys from either side of the grill

remove the screw from the inner fender on driver and pas side

there are 4 pop out clips you only have to remove the 4 towards the rear of the car.

gently pull on the bumper...its poped into place just pulled towards all the edges and it will release... put a blanket or something underneath it just in case it drops ( i did it by myself and it did)

now remove the turn signal bulb( so you can trace the wires and so you have some slack) red is + and black is - .. white wire from the led strip is + and black is -

get everything all connected and give it a quick test to make sure your connections are good and its connected to the right thing

vala!

just the yellow drls parking lights and the led strips

low 6ks and the led stips

ill post up some day shots when i get the chance .. if anyone has any questions lemme know thanks for lookin

OH and make sure you take it easy when your putting the bumper back on because i wasnt and i popped one led:( :deadhorse: so now i have to get a new strip for that side

:facepalm:I'm sorry if this suck and about the small pictures this is my first DIY. So if you destroy your bumper its not my fault.
:readtherules:

I couldn't find anything about the mugen tow hook being installed. So i attempted the install with my Japanese instruction. I don't speak or read Japanese so basically just from the 2 pictures they have.

There is already a bumper removal DIY so I'm going to skip that part.

Besides using the tools like ratchets and screw drivers I used a dremel tool

So after the bumper comes off. There is a metal bumper/radiator guard. Sorry I don't know the exact name. I didn't take any pics of the removal process but its simple to do. It has 6 bolts holding it on and i think its a 12mm. The instructions shows that if you saw off a few inches off the passenger side of the metal bumper the tow hook will fit. I didn't want to destroy it and from looking at it on my car it looked like it might still not fit correctly even after cutting. That's the reason I decided to just remove it.
Attachment 32675

If you look closely you can see where the 3 bolts came out the was holding the metal bumper thing on.
Attachment 32667

So this is where it goes. There are 2 bolts that get removed and replaced with 2 longer bolts that come with the tow hook.
Attachment 32676

Here is a close up of it
Attachment 32677

In order to find the correct place to make the hole on the bumper i thought the best way was to attach the top of the bumper back on and just lay it on the tow hook. I put the 2 bolts at the top of the grill back in. I didn't put them on to tight just a few turns, just enough to hold the bumper so it don't fall off.
Attachment 32678

Here is a shot of what it looks like from the inside. I decided to make a pilot hole from the inside with my dremel. So that I would have a starting point from which I could start cutting a hole for my tow hook to stick out.
Attachment 32666Attachment 32668
Its hard to see but my finger is pointing to the hole i drilled from the inside.

So I went on to make the hole large enough for the hook to fit through. I bought the rip cutting attachment fro the dremel and i used that to make a few longer cuts. BE CAREFUL IF YOUR NOT HOLDING IT TIGHT IT WILL RUN ON YOU AND CUT MORE THEN YOU WANT . I used the router bit to give the hole a better shape. I would pull the bumper up off the hook and cut a little and then place it back on the hook and it gave me an idea of what area i need to to trim more off. I repeated that until the tow hook fit through. Then once i had a shape i liked I used the round sander bit on a slow setting to make it smother. If you use it on a fast setting it will melt the plastic around it.
Attachment 32669
Here is what it looks like once its through.
A close up. I know its jagged. I'm going to take it to my body shop and have them fix it up and make it look clean. Its cheaper for me to do all the work and just let them clean up the edges IMO.
Attachment 32671
The one thing that i would do different would be take the bumper completely off once i had about half of the hole cut. The reason is the since its attached at the top the bumper kinda swings Your going to need to cut the hole a little lower then is actually needed in order to make it swing on. And thats going to leave you a gap at the bottom part. I Hope you understand my explanation. Here is a picture of what I mean.
Attachment 32670

I was kinda of limited on picture so I could only show so much. But if any one had and question I will be glad to answer the so just PM me or whatever. I hope this is helpful and someone understand it besides me. :clapping:

Hey civic lovers here is a cheap cell phone stand/holder DIY that cost about $11, plus the phone doesn't obstruct your view when driving.

1. I purchased these bookends from Ikea ($5, Inreda, comes in a pack of 2)

2. I purchased this cell phone holder from ebay ($6 including shipping, description: Universal Car Holder mount for Mobile Phone MP4 GPS PDA, seller hunhung), it has decent quality

3. I placed the adhesive backing of the holder onto the bookend, then dremmeled the excess metal away, giving it a round shape. When doing this, make sure to take off all metal shards so that your passenger doesn't get hurt if their leg bumps it:dancing:

4. I then placed the dremmeled piece onto the passenger's side. My phone is kinda heavy, so I had to screw it in place (the bookend already has 2 small holes) from the left side. (Reference pic above)

5. Use the suction cup and place on the bookend

6. Sweet! you're done. This is a pic of mine with my phone :vtec:

How to remove/straighten sedan quarter window dash piece.

I didn't find the answer to this, but I wanted to take mine off to realign it since it was pretty crooked without breaking it or breaking any supporting clips. I just went in there and pried at the piece and found it's really easy to take off. No tools required.

Here's just a reference to know where the hooks and clips are, it's cake.

Push down on the actual dash panel to make a gap (or a bigger one if you have a misaligned piece like I do)

Get your fingers under it, but don't pull up, it's clipped in on that far side.

Slide your hand towards yourself a little while staying under the trim piece and then lift up, and presto.

This is what it looks like off:

From the outside, make sure the foam seal isn't blocking the defroster vent opening:

To get it aligned correctly, start with the back end in and below the dash board surface.
If you don't put it below the dash line, when you clip in the front it will still end up being misaligned.

Clip in the front and it fits much better than before! :thumb:
