DIY: Si Spoiler for Ex Coupe 56k beware

Ok i would have posted this on the do it yourself but i dont seem to have permission lol. So here it goes. My girl friend has an 07 ex civic coupe and she wanted to make her car "prettier" lol. we looked on ebay and found a $90 si style spoiler. she loved it lol. she has it in atomic blue so we both figured it would definately be unique. Plus because of the color it would be a dead giveaway that its not an si. Back to the point. we got it and i have to say the paint job wasnt bad at all. i figure just a little wax and nice and shiny. because i myself have an si, it was easier to compare and contrast, but otherwise, you dont really need it there to look at it. First you must have the balls to drill some holes in in your trunk, use a small drill bit to pierce a hole, then use a unibit drill bit to make perfect smooth circles. take a q-tip and a primer for your own piece of mind that the hole you made wont make anything rust.

as you can see it looks pretty clean with the primer on.

honda has 2 indents on each side of the trunk for you to follow for drilling, using the unibit get the 1/4 inch side to make holes big enough for the screws to fit. you can go one more notch to 5/8's to give it more slack when your putting the spoiler on.

this is where the hole should be from the middle. what i did was use my gf's lipstick to mark the spots on the outside of the trunk.

now your gonna have to go on each side and put the supplied screws in(dont forget to slide the brake wire into the designated hole before you begin putting the spoiler on)

the sides were pretty easy to fit in, all 4 screws went in nicely. now the hard part. the middle is only held by one screw you need to get the screw through that slot while pressing down on the spoiler so theres no gap. once together it screws in nicely.

heres what it looks like when its screwed in...not bad at all.

ok, now for the wiring. my girlfriend wanted the inside brake light and the spoiler light to go on(after i cringed i said ok...its your car lol)it looked ok though lol. i bought a couple of zip ties from home depot and some electrical tape. i decided not to cut any wires i just used the existing plug and just put the spoiler wires in. the pics say it all. i just unplugged the interior brake light wire.

ziptie the wire before you plug it into anything

this is where i plugged the wire into...as u can see i didnt cut a thing. i just pushed it in.

just use the electrical tape to wrap the wires individually

ok finished just plug it in.

and now for the finished product

next to my si.

what do you think guys i hope i did ok with this. any questions let me know.

Very nice write up and the pictures are very good. I'm sure the mods will put it in the DIY section!

Im in the same boat. Way too much money and effort to remove the lip spoiler, I found some pictures of it on with an Si spoiler on an EX and I rather like it, so I just need to decided where to order the spoiler and do it.

Though, I don't trust myself worth a damn to do any kind of drilling or measurement on my car so i'll pay to have it done.

I have si spoiler on mine, except I removed the 3rd brake light with the si rear speaker piece. And also no lip spoiler. Doesn't look right with 4 brake lights.

Up here, the more brake lights, the better.
