DIY Mirror Replacement

This is for the coupe... i'm not sure if the sedan is the same...

Since this part can be changed while still on the door i see no point in going through the steps of removing the mirror from the car... although that option is there...

it's rather simple to do it has no screws or anything like that... it's just sticky stuff... a little bit of prying and it comes off ready for the new one...

quick video of how this is done: YouTube - Removal of new civic mirror
now keep in mind that i took the mirror off a few seconds beforehand and the sticky lost a bit of it stickiness so a little bit more pressure is needed than shown in the video... that does not affect the stickiness after it's set tho... it does get harder to take off once it's set again...

quick pic removed:

It does look surprisingly easy in the video.

Thanks for the info!

Good info. When I took apart the Fiji test mirror that I got, for some reason I had to REALLY reef on it to get it off.

lol... a little bit of patience and increased pressure is all that's needed... i already had it off so it came off faster b/c the glue wasn't set yet...

I'm interested in how you got the whole thing off. How does the piece on the inside come off? I imagine there are screws holding the mechanism covered up by that plate.

Actual Mirror Replacement...

I replaced the physical mirror itself (the whole thing) by doing the following:

1) Remove the door card (this can be done with the door on or off the car).

2) Locate the 3 circular holes show below and remove the plastic grommets from them.

3) Inside the 3 holes, you will find that three 12 mm nuts hold the mirror to the door. Before you remove them, you will need to unplug the mirror harness from its connector. This should be easy to do.

4) After the harness is removed, remove the 3 nuts. Here's what it looks like on both sides when removed.
