Oryl... do tell, I'm interested in doing this. (which wires in the side mirror to use would be the info I am looking for) thanks.

the side mirrors I am talking about are the ones from the hybrid- I actually don't know much about wiring them, but the hybrids I have seen only use them as turn signals. the wiring should be something like that.

Try looking for someone who has replaced their sedan side mirrors, maybe? I'll look around and see if there's any more information.

It's all good, I didn't think the non-hybrids had it. There are DIYS on installing the hybrid mirrors and such. No worries.

Excellent write up.

every single person who reads this thread should thank bizzybear- he has helped me redit this DIY on several occasions to make it better.

Thanks guys! Now I just gotta grow some balls and do this. I've had the sidemarkers for 3 months now, no "custom" shops around here want to do this. Looks like I may be my only choice. Great DIY!

hmm... I'll have to try that. here I thought I tried everything.. I was using relays, flashers.. nothing would work right. I wanted it to act exactly as the turn signal would. the best way would be to find a harness with 3 wires and a dual purpose bulb.

when you wire it like that, here's essetially what's going on-

when the turn signal is active, the wire not supplying power to the sidemarker acts as a ground wire.

when the parking lamp is active, the wire not supplying power to the sidemarker acts as a ground wire.

when both the parking lamps and the turn signal are active, both wires are trying to provide power to the sidemarker. there IS no ground, and this breaks the circuit, so the sidemarker turns off.

this wiring setup causes it to wig-wag ONLY when the parking lamp and turn signal are both on. If there was a 3 wire harness and a two stage bulb that would fit the sidemarker, I think that would make work in the same fashion all the time... too bad there isn't one.

but hey! I'm pretty happy with how it works right now.

the Red wire I am referring to is the power wire at the back of your turn signal bulb. you can clearly see it pictured in the DIY pictures near the bottom. You shouldn't have to do anything with the wiring diagram or the hazard wires, this is a simple splice-into-the-turn-signals kind of thing.
