DIY: How to paint and dress up your INTAKE COVER PROPERLY

OK no draggons but but it is super terifico...

the first thing that i tried to do is the i-VTEC plate thats going to replace the current one, well sand blasting didnt work so instead i tried scuffing the stainless plate and it worked Awsome

so this is where i started out, intake cover.

well the sticker isnt going to be saved..., insidently i used this picture(photoshoped) to create my stencle since its the best pictire of the i-VTEC logo i found

No sticker(its mangaled)

Scuffed up, noticed some small gouges...

so i sprayed it with hi-build-primer

then i realided that i should be wearing a differnt shirt to be sanding and spraying, nice shirt though, right...

got it all sanded and level.

then i looked for my clear... i know i have it here somewhere...., and i didnt do i had to go buy some. my habbi red is in the Por-form can on the top-left

THIS STUFF COVERS AWSOME!!! this is the first coat... ONLY ONE MANN AND ITS ALL COVERED!!!

second coat for good mesure...10 min later...

1st clear

2nd clear

3rd clear

and done...YES thats a bag on my hand under the glove, I was holding it by the nub on the under-side of the cover so that i could manipulate it.

now that thats all dont with.... i moved on to the veetak plate... and i was actuly going to make it say VEETAK lol.

this is the screw up where the sand blew right through the masking tape.(1-2 hours of prep down the drain!)(rough cut with a bad band saw)

so i needed a new piece... i chose the jig saw after i remembered that i bought one 5 yearsago, duh...

oh and yes its 11:00pm...

so i printed out a new sticker and cut it out.

at first i was trying out a old circut printing trick useing a iron and a reversed image trying to get the toaner to transfer, well it didnt want to transfer to the tape it was too waxy....

here it is all cut out Scuffed and pealed, i used a maroon scuff pad to fet the right look.

Sooo. i decided that the plate needed some accenting. and i just happen to have 1500 4mm square acrylic rods and 1000 3mm rods and a butt load of led's...(i have tons of weird stuff...),
as seen here...

After a day of messing around with this i made up a jig and bent up some stuff and decided to cut faccets into the inside to bounce light, well that was another 2-3 hours down the drain...

so i exparimented and the best result was a heavly scuffed inside, it bounced the most light. V1 on top V2 on the bottom

here is a shot of my bro working on the jig

and a light test.

well the engine puts out alot of heat so i decided that it needs more internal braceing

And a test with 4 leds

here it is assembled...

those are chromes stainless huk-bolts(not reallybolts, more like rivets)

ISNT THAT FREAKING SEXY????#@$@#$?>

Light out... Freaky

On the car...

and this isnt the final resting place for it anyway...

What do you guys think???? about 20 hours of work?, funny dont look it does it? thats what you get for proto typing.

Very nice mod... only thing I dislike about it is how much it sticks out the top.. have you though about cutting the cover and sinking it down into it?

Back and Forth Forever
Looks great. Lots of hard work went into that. Need a better shot of the LEDs and plate before I can make a decision about that.

thanks guys, this was V1.4 V2 will be better.

the plate sticking out the top is marginal you can't see it in real life, that was kind of the point. the thing about the night shots are that its night time, that light is a accent, granted its bright but still its not supposto be blinding, but now i see how ugly that spark plug cover is. so thats getting painted next, did to tnow that they use insainly long bolts for it???

all of these shots where at night at arounf 3am, just with come light, in person its bright and casts red light at the firewall and you, in the next one i'm gonna use noew LED's :P, i have some 10mm 120000mcd's so i plan on sanding them to size and sticking them in...

OH I almost forgot to mention... inder the light ribg and the veetak plate is a sheet of milar, its super reflective and its a heat sheild too...

anyone one one?, $70=shipping for habbi?. $90 any other colour cux the spraybomb is $20 lol...

I applause your hard work and Do It Yourself ability. Great job. I'd love an Atomic Blue Metallic one, lol. You should be proud of yourself.
