Arrow *DIY* '07 Si 4DR JDM/red badges

from my research thruout other threads on this forum, the 2DR mod and the 4DR mod are different & take different steps to complete. this will be the first FULL DIY on the 4DR to my knowledge.

the guinea pig vehicle was my '07 Rallye Red 4DR Si.
=======================================
=======================================

tools you will need:
-tape (i recommend blue painter's tape but all i had around was scotch tape)
-razor blade or very sharp precision knife of some variety
-flathead screwdriver
-phillips screwdriver
-pliers of some kind. smaller the better
-double stick tape or caulk/sealant (to cover 2 holes in trunklid)
-dental floss or fishing line
-adhesive remover & wax for cleanup (Goof-Off or Goo-Gone are best IMO)
-JDM red-H badges front & rear (got mine for $101.XX shipped from www.jdmland.com)
-a friend (never fails to have extra hands)
-plenty of light is also good as you'll see my pics get darker )

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
REAR EMBLEM REMOVAL & RED BADGE INSTALLATION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

step one:
-open your trunk & remove the FOUR screws w/ a phillips head screwdriver (i only have 3 cuz one failed me already months ago) & be sure to place them somewhere safe.

step two:
-pull down the cover along the trunk lid & look for 2 white tabs poking thru. these hold in the stock rear emblem. use the pliers to grasp the tabs & push gently. once finished with that...

step three:
-use the dental floss & do a sweeping motion with a little force to cut thru the small strips of adhesive on top & bottom of stock emblem on trunklid. remove emblem.

step four:
-clean immediate area around the emblem & i applied some wax for protection personally. i like to keep my area clean. use the adhesive remover & even your fingernail to remove ALL of the residue & adhesive. this is where i applied double stick tape along the 2 holes front the inside of the trunklid. this will ensure absolutely NO water can seep into your trunk.

step five:
-get the rear badge & remove the 2 white tabs by way of cutting them or shaving them down. whichever method you prefer. i used a very sharp razor blade & scored each side deep so it just pops off with little pressure using your fingers & nothing is raised above backing surface.

step six:
-once satisfied with removal, test fit the rear badge (bigger of the two mind you!!). you will see the red badge is slightly larger than the stock one. thats okay no worries!! once pleased with placement on test fit, apply tape to all 4 edges to ensure the badge is PERFECTLY straight & even.

step seven:
-remove backing to rear badge & apply using your tape lines as a guide. be PATIENT & be sure its straight cuz it will stick FOREVER!! once applied, remove painter's tape & apply firm but steady pressure all around badge to ensure best stick!

step eight:
-take a couple steps back & either rejoice in your efforts or die a lil inside if its off a bit...then log back onto JDMLAND.com & order a new set.
BEFORE & AFTER PICS

THE END

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
FRONT EMBLEM REMOVAL & RED BADGE INSTALLATION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

*DISCLAIMER: with this particular DIY, i have opted going the route of keeping the rear emblem intact & destroying the front emblem to save time & also keep this short without confusion. its completely up to you however. attempt at your own risk &/or peril!!!*

step one:
-using the sharp instrument of your choice, pry one edge of it under the emblem taking care to not scratch the paint on the grille. pry an edge of your choice until you have a firm grasp. CAREFULLY work your way around whatever you can pulling towards you gently. this is scary i know, but trust me, i had ZERO damage whatsoever sans the emblem itself.

step two:
-once taking care to remove stock emblem, be sure to clean the crevices of the area because it will not be seen or accessible ever again once badge has been installed. you may have a piece or two of the 2 prongs that were once holding the stock badge in place.

step three:
-get the front badge & do the same as above w/ the sharp knife removing the white tabs below or level with the surface of the rest of the badge.

step four:
-test fit the front badge over the stock location. be sure the curvatures of the area match up to the badge. it is SLIGHTLY smaller than stock so do not be alarmed!!

step five:
-peel & stick. CAREFUL cuz this part is a bit more flimsy than the rear. so take caution when applying pressure to ensure maximum stick.

step six:
-take a couple steps back & either rejoice in your efforts or die a lil inside if its off a bit...then log back onto JDMLAND.com & order a new set.
BEFORE & AFTER PICS

THE END

final step, post pictures on this site & give props to the website you ordered your badges from & possibly +rep if you felt this DIY was useful in any way whatsoever!!

id like to thank ICB Motorsport / JDMLAND for the perfect-as-it-gets front & rear badge combo. & also thanks to my buddy Angel for the place to do this install as well as assisting me with steady hands for badge placement & with the install in general...finally, the photography/modeling of his hands. ROFL!!

enjoy & please feel free to comment.

~Joey

p.s.- sorry about the poor quality of photos near the end. i did what i could but ran out of sunlight QUICKLY that evening.

Good DIY! I was thinking of doing one myself.

I have several pics that might help folks do the front a little differently.

I was able to save the clips from my original emblem, but the prongs broke off.

I painted the tips of the prongs on the new front emblem with Liquid Paper.

Then I lined it up with the grille and transferred the Liquid Paper.

Then I used a sharp Xacto blade to cut through the plastic. You could easily drill it, of course.

Then I flattened the clips and pushed them back onto the plate after applying the emblem.

I thought I might share these here instead of starting another emblem thread.

Good job on the pics! I ran out of daylight when I did it too!

Pretty simple mod. Wouldn't you say, SOLO?

And reversable--if you don't break the emblems.

yup yup, its just an option either way. i didnt want to risk losing screws &/or screwdrivers futzing with the grille trying to undo it. so breaking it was the best medium i could find. that & i did NOT for the life of me have ANY torx tools required for 2 of the removal requirements to the grille for that matter. lol. at least i have ONE souvenior emblem from my car. yayy!

ACTUALLY, the quick and dirty way you describe would have led me to much less heartache and pain.

That's a plastic clip from the bottom of the grille where it snaps to the bumper. It's laying in the sheild under the radiator. It was the only one I recovered. I bought 3 more and snapped them in later.

After I had the grille unscrewed, I gave a good yank. POP! Hey, what was that? Bye bye plastic clips.

ouch!! further helping my case sir. i was afraid of that mess so after all the x-number of pages & threads i read i decided to incorporate the "keep one & break the other" method into my DIY to save time, tools, & possible utter frustration!! LOL!

I have a coupe Si and the rear "H" badge is easy to take off but what i'm actually blown away by is the fact that the FRONT "H" badge isn't screwed on but rather pronged in like the rear "H" badge.

why did I see like 4 or 5 screws in that 1 picture of the grille with the "H" badge from behind, obviously removed from the car. I thought the front "H" was screwed oh.....?

Yes, there are 4 bolts you have to loosen to get the grill off after you take the pressure bolts loose.

Then there are four pressure bolts holding the grille to the bumper. See my last post for how I messed that up.

But the pressure washers hold the emblem on pretty well.

Good luck!

all I wanna do is find out how to just take off the grille so when I get my JDM "H" badges I can install them and at the same time take off the "Si" badge aswell. I know there are 2 screws holding the "Si" badge into place but I didn't know there were prongs holding the front "H" emblem on. I wanna knockout 2 things at once when I get those JDM "H" badges. I wanna take off the "Si" emblem as part of my "look" i'm trying to achieve and also to deter vandals or stupid people that like to touch or mess with, you know?.

I already took off the "civic" and "Si" badges from the trunk lid. all I have on there is the "H" badge and the "H" badge on the front too aswell as the "Si" badge too. I plan on doing the whole FRONT grille Si and "H" badges at one time when I get my JDM "H" emblems so thats why I needed to know exactly what i need to take off as far as clips and screws goes. I mainly wanna know JUST for the "Si" badge cause as I can see, there are no screws holding the front "H" badge so that could just be pulled off right?. it's those 2 screws holding the "Si" badge thats the reason why I have to take off part of the grill, so I can reach back there with a small screw driver and unscrew those 2 screws holding the "Si" badge.

Yes, but to reach it, you'll have to at least pull the grille loose. There should be instructions on this earlier in the thread. You'll need a flathead screwdriver for the pressure bolts on the shield and an allen wrench to begin pulling the grille away from the radiator.

The Si badge is indeed screwed into the grille. My pics don't show this, but if I remember correctly, you should be able to reach it without removing the grille. I think it's two Phillips head screws.
