First thing I did when I got my car home was remove dealer plates and holder.
I was so happy I didnt have a hole.
I love how it looks with no plate...so clean...nothing to get in the way for a wash. BUT, I live in Los Angeles. I got pulled over by a bicycle cop in 2000 for not having a front plate on my Cavalier...it broke off and was in my front seat and still got a fix it ticket. So this mod may come in handy.
=D

You're right. I have a HFP'd FA5 and I tried this yesterday and even if you cut the plastic as shown in the DIY, the bottom (originally the top) contacts the lip. What I'm guessing is more cutting, shortening the bottom of the bracket. Maybe eliminating the use of the bottom two screws to hold it in. I'll check again today. Good question.

Yeah it doesn't fit without contact....I ended up ordering a new bracket for 11 bucs so no big deal.....I got a nice 4" scuff from the bracket touching the bumper so I think I'm just gonna cover it up...

I've got an idea: how about cutting off the bottom portion of the bracket, then bend/fold the license plate up, just under the #s, so that it doesn't touch the HFP lip? Too ricey? I was thinking of this because it's similar to what I did with my Miata to put the plate in the front "mouth" area.

So I take it you can't really do this DIY mod if you have the HFP kit on a sedan? I do have the kit installed and when I tried to put the plate frame up-side-down where it would need to go, the bottom of the frame was hitting the lip big time. Didn't want to scratch it or anything.

Do you guys know if the JDM license plate relocation plastic piece sold on Ebay will fit the FA5 with the HFP kit? I wouldn't mind getting it, but I am not sure if it'll fit.

This DIY was great. I did it a couple of weeks ago and it looks great. The only thing I had to change was the bolts. I had to go to home depot to get longer ones. Other then that, thank you

I gave up on it--won't fit with the HFP sedan lip unless you "modify" your plate. Sigh...

Can't you just hack off the entire bottom part? Then it will still fit...

I don't know if I wanna do that because I might get in trouble with the cops. I will try that JDM plate relocator on eBay and see if it will fit. Has anyone tried it on the sedan with the HFP kit?
