kicker_jace: general rule of thumb is to use the least abrasive sand paper possible. Any paint shop will have 1500-2000 grit sand paper. Sand it really lightly to smooth out the rough edges and then take some chrome polishing compound and buff it till it shines. Remember to finish with the highest grit sand paper possible because chrome will look foggy and dull if you don't make it really really smooth. Take off a bit at a time using waterproof sand paper and you should be fine.

irichard: You'll have to test the paint before you apply to make sure its a close match. I used duplicolor wheel paint because it matched pretty well. Its a matter of trial and error. If you like when I have a moment I can dig up the can of the stuff and give you a part no.

as for the rubbing compound I just used a turtle wax high abrasive rubbing compund and finished with a really light polish.

Remember people to get the best finish you always have to finish off with the lightest cutting polish.

omggg i've been wanting to do this forever, i might just go ahead with it. i'm just having a problem finding a paint color to match my rims. i'm hoping a local paint shop will be able to mix it/spray it for me...

whoops.. i forgot the whole reason for posting.

when i sand down the epoxy or bondo, should i sand it a bit more than the actual level of the rim (and the paint around the curbed area)? when i go to paint it, isn't the paint layering going to exceed the rest of the rim?

thanks.

advice please!

i think im going to attempt to fix my rim! only problem is that i do not know what color paint to use. I have the 18" HFP-R7 Alloy Wheels from Honda. If you have seen them, they are almost a like a gunmetal color with a hint of bronze? any ideas or what color paint to use?! thanks!

Nice DIY. This will come in quite handy when I pick up my 'new' wheels this weekend.

Does anyone know what color will work with factory 06 Si rims? My car has a nasty 1" gouge out of the back passenger rim, all the rest are flawless. It was from some damn train tracks that I went a little quick over.
