2007 Civic Si Sedan - Need advice

Well, I'm in a bit of a bind.. I want a new exhaust for my FA5, however, I live in a pretty pretentious neighborhood and I've already been told by many that the Skunk2 70mm would probably be too loud, unsilenced. I want a skunk system for my car, but I want the 60mm since I don't plan on forced induction, but I'm unsure as to what it sounds like in the 1-3k range with the silencer. I just want something decently loud, not too loud, that looks nice and won't cost 600+. Any advice, tips? My situation is a little more complicated than most, I know. I just want to get rid of the dirty vag exhaust I'm rockin' right now

Edit: Also, I've heard it's almost impossible to find the 60mm for the FA5. What's the deal there?

Honestly, if you are unwilling to deal with the negative attention a loud exhaust will undoubtedly bring, stay away from all of Skunk2's exhausts. From what I read, the 60mm is not really that much quieter than the 70mm, and also is higher pitched. Look into the Vibrant exhaust for something with good quality and middle of the pack noise.

Well, I'm a broke ass college kid and just want an exhaust for looks and sound, I don't really care about performance gains, as I don't plan on doing anything under the hood for as long as I own it. (maybe).. so, if I wanted to get a skunk2 axle-back with a silencer, would I be able to add that mid-pipe later if I really wanted to? A friend of mine had an RSX-S with a Vibrant on it.. it was a little too raspy for me.

I'm just trying to decide if the extra 200 would be worth it..

I would save up for the 70mm Skunk2. It sounds awesome, and will have a deeper, nicer tone compared to just an axle-back. And it gains some power. But if you just get an axle back, I know megan sells a mid pipe that you could put on later, but that plus the Skunk muffler would make a bit less power than the 70mm cat-back. (The megan mid pipe is 60mm IIRC)

Surely that's sarcasm, right? 98% of the hondas and acuras out there today are slower than a stock Si, yet still have nice exhausts (well, some of them). I don't consider my Si to be slow, but I don't consider it to be fast?

not sarcasm. the thing is if money is tight why not save your money. Just exhaust on a si is probably going to sound fart can-ish

I'll be selling my 3 month old Go Power Exhaust in the near future if your interested. I'll be selling it at quite a discounted price. It was damaged by a rock, but I paid $300 to have that piece cut out and a new piece welded in. Exhaust is still fine just time for a chance. Also the muffler was coated black by go power

If your main focus is to keep the exhaust note in the lower decibel range, why in the world are you considering ANY Skank2 exhaust?

listen to this guy! save ur money and don't waste it on a exhaust...if u want the exhaust u might as well change the header and new intake to actually sound good and not a fart can.

to be honest i like the way the stock exhaust sounds on my FA5. if u actually have someone drive by u in a fa5 (stock exhaust) it sounds pretty good. and when they it sounds even sweeter.

i probably use that money and mod the transmission (twm cables/adapter or usdm mugen qs) or get a new pair of tires, or hfp suspension, or hfp body kit.

but thats just my .2 i was on the same boat as u i just graduated from college (23 yr old) and i have a 08 fa5

Definitally hit up the guy with the GoPower, that exhaust is not too loud and if it is discounted like he says that makes me upset I got the 76mm skunk2! GoPower is backed up on there exhausts right now, but they really are the best.(plus awesome power gains)

apexi ws 2, quiet but looks nice.
and i think there are more than just you on here who knows what temptation is even when you dont have the money. 'saving your money' is hard to do when you have performance mods in mind...
but in your case, save the money. after all, you only said you wanted a new exhaust? whats the point?
