KAIXEN HID Kit Installation DIY!

This is part of a series of Do It Yourself threads for aftermarket parts on the 8th generation Civic Si. My company, Excelerate LLC, nor I, Joshua Lockwood, represent that any of the information forthwith is all inclusive or 100% accurate, although we will strive to be as accurate as possible. Proceed at your own risk and your own liability.

This is a DIY thread for the KAIXEN HID Kit for the 8th generation Civic. You can purchase this HID kit from us for $305 shipped to the continental US.

See here for pricing: KAIXEN HID Kits and D2C HID Upgrade Bulbs

Parts:

KAIXEN HID KIT

DIY Instructions:

1. Raise the front of the vehicle, and support it with safety stands in the proper locations.

2. Remove the front wheels.

3. Remover inner fender liner. There are about 5-6 clips.

4. Unclip the white connector for the low beam bulb by pushing in the tab and pulling down.

5. Turn the bulb housing counter clockwise and remove.

6. Insert new HID bulb and turn clockwise. Be careful not to touch the bulb b/c the oil from your fingers will rub off on the bulb. When the bulb becomes heated this oil will cause the bulb to burst. If you do touch it wipe it down with rubbing alcohol.

Here is a pic of how all the connectors mate up.

7. After setting the bulb in the headlight housing correctly and mating up all the connectors in the HID kit and to the original connector check to make sure the HID kit is working by turning on the headlights. If the headlight does not come on you will need to check to make sure the wires are routed properly. Turn the headlights off and try the following. Here is how to confirm it.

Find the white connector from the car (the original connector that plugged into the stock halogen bulb) and the blue connector from the HID kit that plugs into it. Make sure the the black (negative/ground) wire from the blue connector matches up to the black (negative/ground) wire on the white connector and that the red (positive/power) wire from the blue connector goes to the green (positive/power) wire on the white connector. If they are not matched up correctly then you will put out the spade connectors and switch the two wires as shown in this picture. Notice how the blue connector red wire is now going to the black wire and the red wire to the black wire.

8. Now put the double sided tape on the back of the ballast and find a good location to stick the ballast to. Make sure that the ballast has room to aerate and that water won't be dumped on it. Although it is waterproof I wouldn't put it in a spot where tons of water would fall on it.

9. Put the fender liner back on and repeat for the opposite side.

10. Put the wheels back on and torque to 80 ft lbs in a star pattern.

11. Enjoy your HID's. These are my KAIXEN 5000K's (extreme white).

We also have:

6000k - extreme white w/ hint of blue
6500k - extreme white w/ hint of purple
8500k - extreme blue
