^^Yeah, if you are going to reset make sure you have the radio code handy to get your radio working again.

Would this be the same for an R18?

I believe the R18 is different from other threads I have read, but I stand corrected and apologize if I am wrong.

Not, it's not that different at all. The top of our filterboxes are different from the Si because their throttle body is in the front of their K20 engine, and ours is in the back, but from the bottom of the filter box all the way to the snorkel, it's all the same. With the R18, you can still take it out by removing the R Front wheel well, etc.

From what I've read, after you rest the ECU and re-connect the battery, it's best to crank the car and let it idle for 10-15 mins without revving it or anything.
I did mine this way and I noticed it running smoother and smoother as it idled. The other guys say that the ECU is a blank slate after being reset and has factory presets, but no history, so it will quickly 'learn' the new airflow when you reset it. Kinda like learning a new language: The younger you are, the easier it comes to you.

I'm going to take out the resonator when the rain stops here and try to find some room to bring fresh air to the box directly. Thank for the pics and ideas.

Yea, I took off the long hose the goes to the air intake to the resonator and it seemed to change the sound.

I think I am going to keep it where it's just the air intake or maybe leave that little rubber hose on it.

I'd advise against just having just the rubber hose, because they can close up at the end when they get hot. You need something rigid to connect to it to, at the very least, make sure it doesn't collapse in on itself or change shape.

So you took out the Resonator and all its piping, is that what I am understanding? You should be fine its pretty much like tkaing the Rubber piece off the intake box, but now you just have nothing there. You should be fine.

^ ok thanks.

Once I took off the plactic pipe going from the air box to the resonator it sounded totally different. It's really deep now when at WOT

^ in a thin booklet with your manual. the dealer gave me the wrong last number so i had to guess.

I've never opened the wheel well and seen the resonator. how hard would it be for me to get it out? I consider myself pretty decent with tools. I'm just unfamiliar to the resonator and don't want to ruin anything.

^^It should be pretty easy. Just take the wheel off and the fender liner off and search around for the bolts.

It can be done without taking the wheel off... just turn the wheel all the way to the Left, and you will have plenty of access. When you take off the wheel well, it will not only open up the area around the wheel, but it will also open up the area underneath the resonator. When I took mine out of my R18, the path out for the box was straight down. With a little twitching and moving around, you can get it out without cutting the pipe. Good luck!
