ok this may sound noobish but instead of taking out the whole Resonator why not just disconnect the rubber tube that connects the Resonator to the air filter box? it saves time and effort! i dont know if it works or not i was just wondering for those who are too lazy to take out their bumper or inner wheel well.

Also, as a test, I just removed the rubber piping from the filter box and ran it like that for a weekend, and the sound was really crappy. In my opinion, it had a rough, crappy-sounding and low-pitched sound at above 3,000 RPMS... I didn't like it, so I switched back to the no-resonator-extended-piping setup, with it's really nice and easy-on-the-ears roar at high RPMS, and am staying there! |

I noticed a difference! To confirm my butt dyno, I borrowed a friend's GTec Pro one evening. The butt dyno was correct. Go here to see the G-Tec's "dyno" differences: Did some testing on my car, interesting results |

I'm going to install the Top Fuel SRI and there's obviously no connection between the SRI and the stock resonator tubing. If I leave the resonator tubing on, will it flap around and hit things? I mean, it's not connected to the stock airbox any longer once I put the SRI in. I was gonna remove the resonator tubing altogether but you guys make a good point about leaving it in to still draw in cold air from the fender. Did that make sense?

The statement that it will still draw in cold air is a myth. M-Y-T-H. The snorkel comes out in the right of the engine bay, so that's not very cold air, but the overriding fact is that if you have no pressure gradient, you have no air pressure. The only reason air comes into the intake in a naturally-aspirated engine is because the internal combustion in the engine creates a vacumn that pulls it in. You could force air in with either a turbo or with a ram-air effect through the cowl, hood, or bumper. |
