Sorry but I think a bit more work goes into making a legit icebox than just hacking off some pieces from the intake and calling it a homemade intake.

The whole purpose of me doing a homemade intake is for people that don't want to spend the money on a CAI (average cost $250 from a name brand) It is a waste of money when you only get an average of 1-10hp from it and can't even feel that difference most of the times.

I also think by being able to use every factory part and being able to figure out how to do so is alot harder then going to home depot and using PVC pipe or going to pepboys and buying all the pieces to make your own.

I wanted it to look stock from under the hood (sleeper like) so the average joe wouldn't be able to tell it was there.

I also chose to keep it plastic because metal has a tendency to absorb heat(heat soke) alot more then plastic hence one of the reasons for hesitaion on anitial take offs from a CAI that is metal.

Hrm.. I don't support most after market intakes (I'd have to see the x intake first-hand and see what it does / how my car reacted to it on the dyno to fully support that one) but I'm always a little hesitant when I see people hacking up their own cars. The intake of this car was designed a certain way by engineers. I'm no engineer and neither is 99% of this board (hey, maybe you are lol) but a lot of people cut away shit and whatnot and pretend like they know what they're doing and that it's beneficial. I'm not saying this in particular is that, but it seems like that's a common thing on here.

Also, intake or not, I don't really think that affects someone's 'sleeper' status. It's not like you pop someone's hood, see a k & n intake and think "holy shit this guy is modded".

True very true I just don't want it to be noticable by the average guy its not like Im hiding nitrous or something like that I just wanted to retain the stock design and remove the restictions. (like the comptech and Mugen Ice boxes)
As for the X intake I think it works and works well given the dyno sheets he has to back it. Yes I'm no enginier but I have messed with intakes enough to know how to make them or change them. I could definatly see the X intake in performance stores or automotive stores on the shelf next to high end intakes Like AEM and IJEN. I to am not a believer in CAI's or Short rams for that matter. I just wanted to experiment and it's not like I can't put it back to stock should I have problems down the road.
I'm gonna see If I can dyno my car and see what it does...till then it's all heresay......

i think it's cool, combine what you did with the crv tube (with or without messing with the vanes) and i bet it would be a nice increase over stock.
