If they are looking good I'll just keep the intake on, but if my AFR's are messed up or something I'll just swap my Injen back on and go back to the drawing board.

Hopefully it will be a good way to get pretty direct comparisons between a DIY'ed X and the Injen while using the same filter to see the difference.
With your Injen intake, how's your idle? Throttle response? Granted mine was a cheapo Weapon R, but I had major idle problems and reduced throttle response compared to stock. It felt like it made power, but my car felt like it was 10 years older, one of the main reasons it got ebayed and I'm working on diy'ing X's intake.

I have run every mod on my car with the same dyno. My first dyno run was 181.. So I would say its not high. I have seen higher runs stock than my 181.

This dyno I use is a VERY reputable dyno in Atlanta. Temple Of VTEC uses this very one when the dyno there cars. I think if it wasnt legit, they wouldnt use it.

i sure f'ing don't. they couldn't do it. said they were only set up to go through an exhaust bung that i didn't have. i gave them a pretty hard time, told them i'd pay and this is what they told me. sorry man. i was pretty pissed cuz it's the main reason i went to the dyno.

Blue was with Injen SR--DCRH--Hondata IMG--PR2 TBG--Greddy Evo2

The Dyno was a Dynojet with SAE CORRECTED with Smoothing of 3.

after seeing many stock SI's dyno, all with the reported average numbers that a stock SI should have, and seeing cars with the same mods as your car, i would have to say the dyno you did your testing on reads high.

I haven't seen anyone sanding down the vanes on a stock air box so I thought I would give it a try. I had previously put in a K&N panel filter and removed the resonator and didn't notice much of an increase, but once I sanded the vanes it was a totally a different story. The car pulls much harder now. I'm sure I could squeeze more power if I went with the complete X Intake, but I wanted to keep the stock look.

I thought that the "innards" were there to help direct the flow evenly over the filter area, or are they for intake noise suppression?

^that may be, but ther eis soo much turbulence in the airbox that the "flow direction vanes" are nearly usless.

hmm... I'm not very sure. however, here's a read you'll find interesting.

Tech - K20A2 RSX airbox mod
although this is for a RSX, the general idea should be somewhat the same.... someone on another website (I really wish I remember where it was) cleaned out their box and got a small amount of horsepower out of it.

Thanks, I saw that article before, but it seems to address the intake limitations specific to the RSX. Other than freeing up some power, does removing the vanes on the Si airbox make the intake noise any louder?

if it does, it's such an insignificant increase that you can't hear it.
