i'll just wait till mine comes so i can get a better idea of how it looks stock. it's just that every picture appears different to me. this one looks like the lower vane (inside part) has been modified just as the red and blue shows for the top.

try not getting all high and mighty, we're here to help eachother right? don't disrespect me and question my ability. i'm the one trying to learn from you. these aren't exactly clear cut and great directions/pictures.

the bottom vane is not touched, it just looks that way because i sanded it a bit. im just stating that this is a delicate and vitail part of you engine, i am helping you and in no way disrepecting you. i listed everything you need to do and alot of people have done it, Q , Jzilla, and soxfan have all followed the specs and have had sucess with it.

The first pic shows 1 vane filed and one unfiled.

The 2nd pic shows in what fashion to file. In response to the red/blue line (my question), I think X says that there's really only one 5 degree possible, so once you start, it'll probably be easy to figure out. Let me know if that clears things up a bit.

Also, go out and take off your stock lid just for reference if it will help. I actually just did it and it took literally a minute. Phillips for screw clamp over hose and needle nose pliers to push the MAF sensor wire clip out of the lid. Push down the 6 silver tabs holding the top lid onto the bottom and your set. Looking at it now in person makes it a lot easier.

Edited hopefully to not cause confusion, since it is touched but on the non visible side in that pic.

Lol, hopefully my 'understanding' of it will help once I actually do it.. Might just do it to my stock lid and cut it out later when I get the brace/filter.

Let us know how this goes with keeping the entire stock box together. I've been thinking of doing this too and trying something else if the stock box can be modded and kept in tact.

It actually looks to be quite the pain in the ass to file since the box is only a few inches out from the MAF housing. Would probably making filing with the bigger file much harder. I might just take the plunge and order the filter now and go pick up some parts today

Any idea if this can be done to say a Injen SRI, if it were cut back to the housing area? Does a SRI have the same type of vanes inside of it?

You should be the pioneer Just gotta go get the lid from Honda and your set, so fairly cheap to test.
