has anyone thought about just taking off the entire foglight housing frame and then adding the mesh? i thought it might look cleaner?

I'm not sure what you mean, but you should do it and write a DIY so everyone can see.

i think that would not look good at all. that is too much mesh. try it and take some pics but i am pretty sure it well take a lot of time and not look that good.

i got mine at lowes and found the mesh in the gutter section. im not sure what its used for but i think its put on the top of the gutter to keep the leaves out. its about 3-4 feet long and about 6 inches wide.

injen hydroshield. goes right over the filter and doesnt restrict the air intake

i think it would look better if you just cut out the entire triangle shroud altogether. if you can do it cleanly without marring the bumper around the edges i think it would look good. my old 01 eclipse used to have 2 vents in the same spot. well they come stock with "fake vent" cover things. we used to always cut those out and just leave it open. im not a big fan of mesh.

hydro shield FTW
and the bypass valve works
when your intake is fully submerged is the only time it DOESN"T work
so avoid foot deep puddles and u should be fine

also more rain for your filter ,It will help your thirsty filter sri for the win ,I cant judge i just did something similar i cut out the fog light holes for my grille craft grilles that are comming tomorrow they look so good but luckily mu filter is up top to stay dry
and just for the record the throtle body has hot hot coolant running throgh it so what happens to your cold air when it gets there ?Well it gets hot just like if you had a sri with out the chance of hydrolocking , but it looks good nice job

2 things. how much water do you think goes thru the hole. not much. i want you to try something next time you go eat out. get a drink and take your straw and half way put it in the drink. so half of the bottom of the straw is in liquid and half is in air. now start sucking. water weighs less than water so the water will not be sucked up. now if the filter is fully submerged then you are screwed. i have had this done for quite some time and have had no problem. dont try to make yourself think that your purchase is better than the competition. even if you have a damp filter you will not hydrolock. you could dip the filter in water then put it on your intake and you would be fine.

Also with the throttle body having hot coolant running thru comment. mine does not. i have done the throttle body bypass. so that arguement is quickly gone. anyways the air goes thru the throttle body so quick it cant warm up that much. do you know why the throttle body has hot coolant running thru it?

your bumper is plastic and if you use stainless wire mesh it won't rust.....
also this is for someone that has a CAI or modified intake before you do this mod go here....

no. the mesh you use is meant to be used on gutters. they are meant to be weathered.

I don't see fog light holes at the corners on the sedan.

Maybe something can still be done? There are a lot of very creative people on the 8th!
