Took me about a minute. I wish a header install took the same amount of time.

I'll give you the cliff notes:

For filtration oiled cotton/foam = bad and Paper = good

And if you want some great marketing mixed with a little good info:

http://www.amsoil.com/video/company/...ers/index.aspx

That's why I recommend people ditch the oiled cotton/foam (which can also cause MAF fouling) and go with Outlaw Power's NeverOil, AEM's DryFlow, AFE's ProDry, AMSOIL's EAA line.

They flow better than paper, filter better than paper, and don't have any of the draw backs of cotton/foam.

do they make any of those filters that fit in the OEM air box? or are they all cone filters?

New K&N drop in filter

K&N next to stock

K20 airbox.. note the silver clips on the left and right sides

Undo said silver clips on left side

Undo said silver clips on right side

Don't forget these two bastards hiding in back

Once you've done that pull up on the airbox a bit, slide out the old filter and slide in the new filter. Remember to reclip all the silver clips in which ever order you feel comfortable with. Start engine and enjoy!!
hi flow = low filtration..what kind of flow does ur civic hav ne way...its not a race car

this part was interesting:

"In 60 minutes the AC Filter accumulated 574gms of dirt and passed only 0.4gms. After only 24 minutes the K&N had accumulated 221gms of dirt but passed 7.0gms.

Compared to the AC, the K&N “plugged up” nearly 3 times faster, passed 18 times more dirt and captured 37% less dirt. See the data tables for a complete summary of these comparisons."

I don't know about the other companies because I don't sell them, but AMSOIL at this time does not have a direct fit filter for Civics (neither 1.8 or 2.0L).

Give it some time, they keep adding more though.

But until then stick with a quality paper filter if you want to keep dirt out of your engine.

Bah, no edit button yet. I must not have enough posts.

Here's more proof you should avoid K&N like a coughing flight attendant on Air China (that's a SARS joke....are those still funny?).

I found it funny. I was in Taipei when the whole SARS thing broke out, however, since I don't speak Mandarin I had no idea what was going on. When I boarded my first flight (of three) on the way home (between Taipei and Osaka) I couldn't figure out why almost everyone on the plane (except me of course) had a face mask and often eye goggles on. It wasn't until I got to Osaka over four hours later and heard a CNN broadcast that finally figured it all out. Hmmm, only fourteen more hours until I land in Detroit, maybe I better buy a face mask before I board.
