Is it worth doing this? What are the pros and cons? Seems like a lot of work for a gasket.

Pros: Lower your intake temperature
Cons: Putting it on!

Before you install, let car warm up to optimal temp, then (carefully!) place your hand on the intake manifold. It will be lava. After installing the IMG, place hand on IM at operating temp, it will be warm but not hot. Hot IM bad, colder IM good. Cheap mod for what it does.

Matauz, it takes a little more time to take of the brace in front of the intake but definitely worth the space you gain to wiggle that damn intake off!!

Mine just got done this morning. Its not as hard as this DIY makes it out to be, especially if you have the right tools.

-You don't have to completely remove your intake, just disconnect it.
-You don't have to take off the front frame bracket, the OP just did it to make it easier for himself.

Make sure you drain the coolant. If you do this without draining the coolant, not only will it leak everywhere, but you might get an air bubble inside, and then your car will start revving up by itself. We had this problem on a 2003 RSX-S we did the IMG for.

Took 1 hour and a half.

Thanks for your help guys. I am going to drain the coolant before I do this anyway but I'm a little confused about the air bubble that would have my car rev. Air bubble where? And it causes it to rev?

I am sorry did you take offense or something? I came to this DIY after I did my install lol to see what people were saying about their gains.

Sorry didn't see where you said you have to drain the coolant, but you say you have to remove the intake and the front frame bracket, both being completely unnecessary and adding probably 30 more minutes of time, thats all I was saying bro. People were probably looking all the steps to remove just the bracket and getting overwhelmed so I was just helping them out.

BTW I just have a random question. Why does Hondata say to reroute the ground wire? I didn't and no problems here. I guess Hondata thinks the IM isn't grounded anymore because its not connected to the metal gasket? Its still contected to the body of the car via the black bracket underneath.

just simply stating that what you posted is in the DIY. that's all. thanks for the input and the rep.

I do not know why Hondata says to relocate the ground wire. it's also connected through the studs.

I just did it last night to be safe. I felt like I was going to break that plastic cover into 100 pieces though.

I need to buy some newclips. They can't handle but so many times of being pulled out and put back in. (Note: I have taken off the bumper many many times.)

This mod combined with a throttle body bypass mod and a CAI will definitely see some HUGE decrease in intake air temps!

Just finished doing this mod. I have to say it was a bitch and a half to do. The hardest part of it was getting the clamp underneath the manifold loose (circled in red on the dyi) and wiggling that manifold out. Worth it though. After a few minutes of driving and a few hard runs, the manifold was cool to the touch the the throttle body was even cooler (tbs).

no. not unless you screwed up your engine and honda determined it's because you: 1) didn't tighten the intake manifold down again properly, and something catastrophic happened. 2) forgot to reconnect a vacuum line and something screwed up permanently (which is highly unlikely) 3) dropped something INTO the combustion chamber while you had the intake manifold disconnected, 4) had an issue getting the fuel rail connected and something catastrophic happened (also unlikely).

essentially, unless honda can directly prove that either this IMG, or something associated with it, caused a problem, it can not void your warranty.
