Do you have to take that Radiator Support Bracket off to get the intake manifold off or does this just make it easier??

QShooter awesome DIY +1 Rep

Just got mine done after a few problems nothing big. Qshooter pretty much walks you thru it. I had to remove my battery to get to a bolt behind the front frame portion so that took a couple extra mins. Instead of removing the hose initially like he did I followed the hose to the right and back and it was held down to a plate took out that bolt and gave me enough play to take out the IM. Fired her up and what a beaut. IM was cooler than stock but still warm to touch even after racing it and my TB was cold! I'm sure the IM could have been colder but my CAI is resting on the rad hose and warm, so plans on insulating it tomorrow. Overall job took me about 6 hours along with the install of P2R's spacer n tb gaskets. Took it for a rip and wow what a difference, especially in midrange. Heres a couple pics.

one thing I forgot to add in the review don't forget to mark where the hood release assembly is on the frame portion just makes it easier later on when trying to latch the hood.

I just finished installing my IMG. It was definetly not what I would consider "easy" (not that anyone said it was). It took me about 5 hours.

Big props to QShooter for the DIY! Especially for telling us to remove the support! I cannot imagine how one would do this without removing the support.

One piece of advice: By removing the 2 upper studs (back them out with 2 nuts) the IM came out without having to wrestle, curse, finagle it, etc.

Thanks again for the DIY Q!

nice DIY but u didn't emphasize on the need 2 make sure there arn't pieces of the original gasket to the block. cuz if there are when u put the new one on you won't get a good seal and u'll have a leak. don't want that but other than that good job!

I think that's pretty self explanatory. Plus the old gasket just falls right off...

thanks... the old gasket is metal and comes off in one piece. if it came off in pieces i would have mentioned it. and if you don't know enough to make sure both surfaces the gasket will be sealing are clean, before installing said gasket, then you should not be attempting this mod.

I haven't gotten the courage to put mine on yet.... Mainly because I know how much of a "bee outch" it's gonna be... Anyway, do you think the IMG will work safely with F/I?? Or will the F/I pressure produced create leaks?? Any turbo guys using this??

Knocking your hustle

Not to take any glory away from your DIY But half of the stuff is not necessary for starters the whole removal of the front plate not true! unclamping the hose from the bottom, all you really need to do is dissconect your CAI and the EVAP hoses on top of the TB and the clip to your fuel line and thats about it! you will have to remove the far left stud out of the head using the old two nut trick! Im not really sure you even have to drain the Anti freeze but I did that any way just in case Oh yeah the PVC hose And the brace under the ITM all of this will give you just enough room to wiggle it back and take out the old and in with the NEW Hondata IMG! dont forget to relocate the ground wire to the Valvecover And Tighten the bolts and nuts to the IM to 16ft-lbs and the one on the Valvecover to 8.6 ft-lbs! then retighten the next morning or after 2 hours of driving! HAVE FUN!!!! I-VTEC DAILY!!!!!!!!

ps the only time i really notice the diff is about the first 15 to 20 min of driving after that heat soak sets in!!

Just curious but why would you change the intake manifold gasket on a brand new car? Does this gasket do something special? Not trying to be an ass just trying to understand.

Yes, it lowers your intake temps...Go to Hondata's site to see the dyno
