I am about to order the DC header, but after reading through several posts about there being issues with the flex pipe I am considering just ordering a Vibrant flex pipe and having it welded in to save myself future problems. What would be the best size to go with? I'm thinking either the 2.0" diameter 6" long, or would the 2.5" diameter 6" long flex pipe be a better fit?

There's a good chance that some of the comments I read about the flex pipe having issues were speculation or based off the first version of the header they sold.. For the time being I guess I'll just leave the DC as is, and at least will know what to do if the flex pipe does need to be replaced. Thanks for the timely reply!

Not meaning to double post, but I don't really have an alternative since I'm seemingly unable to edit my previous post...

But, is installing the header something that can be done with jack stands as some people have said they used? I put in my CAI and catback myself and was hoping the header would also be something I would be capable of doing without resorting to an exhaust shop..

That being said, what tips/info can be given from anyone who has used jack stands that you might have deemed as useful to know before your install?

i followed the install DIY to a TEE and i got mine on with a friend. we used jacks, they were all they way up as high as possible. only thing i can say is get ready to drop the F bomb.... alot. fitting the header in is such a PITA. basically what i had to do was force it in. then everything went smooth after that. took me about a hour of fumbling around to finally get it to go in. (FA5)

I did mine all by my self.... jack, jack stands, and your basic tools. Only thing other than basic tools (if you don't have already) a breaker bar, pb blaster, and swivel heads (wish i had these!!). BUT, if you have access to a lift or at least have someone to lend you a hand, do it.

Sliding the old header out and new header in was a freaking breeze. The parts that took me the longest was all the steps in between lol....no space and being on your back doesn't speed things along. Not guna lie, took me about 4hrs doing it by my self with some breaks.

I suggest you print out this DIY to have it handy.

Thanks for the replies Rob and asdf, I actually just printed these instructions earlier today.

Haha, I'm sure if cussing the thing out would make it fit any easier then I would have no problem getting the header in.. I don't think there would be any difference in installation between an FG2 or an FA5, but knowing you had a slightly heavier car up on stands for 4 hours is comforting..

I have a few breaker bars of varying lengths, but is there actually room to use it either under the car or from the engine bay to break loose the bolts on the head? Hopefully I'll have someone helping me at least part of the time, but no lift unfortunately.. When you say swivel heads, I'm assuming you're talking about ratchets? If not, then what are they, and how would they help? Thanks for the pointers!

Breaker bar for the cat bolts. The nuts/bolts on the head flange were kinda a pain to break loose, barley any room/leverage, but I managed lol.

Yeah, swivel sockets. Not necessary at all, but it would be helpful.
