Exclamation 2008 r18

just FYI for all 08 owners, 09 would prolly be the same but unsure. This is an account of my failures and successes of my pulley install from yesterday.

1. the only way i was able to get the crank pulley off was with a 800 ft/lb inpact gun, with a big commercial compressor currently @ 175 psi in the tank.

2. NST told me in 08 Honda did a revamp with their serpentine belts so the code from NST(06+) is not correct on their site. They told me, just take ur belt off, goto a parts store and ask for one 1/2 inch smaller. well after that was too long and 4 belts later it worked with a belt 2&5/8 inch smaller. 2&1/8 would prolly work but i know that 2&5/8 does work. from autozone it was a 835K6, 83.5" 6 rib

so what should've been a 2 hr job went into the night at 6+ hrs.

hopefully 08 owners wont have the troubles i had with this post.

well with that, im off to

Just did this install...broke off the mount for the alternator to the block. There's two bolts back there not one. Fixed it with some washers and got everything back together. Then couldn't get one last bolt to go in one of the holes that holds the alternator to the mount. All of the other bolts are on and everything is secure but do you think I'd be ok without one bolt? I know I'm not being specific but I'll get some pictures if anyone is willing to help me

if someone/a good shop does it for your shouldn't take more than two hours.

so depends how much they charge per hour i suppose. 60-100 i'd guess?

That is correct...for the R18 kit, you will need a resized belt.
