Cool DIY: JDM engine cover

Tools needed: flat head screwdriver, socket wrench with extension and 10mm socket.

EASY mod, looks great.

1. Get your JDM engine cover japanparts.com : PARTS DATABASE

and pop your hood.

2. Remove the two flathead screws (circled) until they won't unscrew anymore (it'll make sense when you do it - they're a weird kind of screw) You can take the old cover off at this time.

3. Using the 10mm socket wrench, Remove the 2 bolts circled (covered by the new cover in the picture....you'll find them, especially if you try putting the new cover on.)

For steps 2 & 3:

The finished product:

Enjoy!!!

why did you remove the bolts? They should NOT be removed! The new engine cover has little rubber nubs with holes that the bolt heads go into.

All you need to use is a flathead screwdriver...no sockets.

Hmm.

I guess I'll try that

As for the Si....sorry, this won't fit. For us with the R18 only

yes, do it ASAP...you removed bolts that go into the head, as far as I remember. I looked into this when i put mine on and determined that the bolts had to be there and couldn't be left out...and if replaced, would have to be replaced by longer ones.

You probably won't find a cheaper price than that...

Since you're actually ordering from Japan, it has to go through customs and stuff, international shipping isn't cheap.

I actually painted the dipstick, it's silver, just cover the part that actuall touches the oil and spray the part you see in the engine bay.

I don't like the orange either, haha.
