for you who had problems....
first remove the bracket that holds the shifter cable the tranny... just about an inch before the bushing, that simplify the install a lot, and then yo can install it whit no problem
i install mines in my EX whit no problem at all

Can these work in conjuction, lets say, comptech's aluminum bushings for the shifter?

They should. Since Comptech's bushings are based around the linkage in the engine bay, if I remember the install.

^ You mean the comptech are shifter-based and the corsport would be linkage-based. I just don't want it too stiff, and with a TWM short throw shifter... eeps.

I just finished installing mine. The hardest part for me was getting the smaller rubber bushing out of the housing. Other than that install was smooth and straight forward. I highly recommend unbolting the shifter linkage bracket (3 12mm bolts) as it makes a world of difference.

I now have the Comptech SS, TWM base bushings & Corsport linkage bushings installed. The shifting is short, smooth and extremely solid. Worth every penny in my book.

Is there a write up or directions for the non-Si models? Or is it basically the same?

There are several differences in the non-Si. The stock air box is a PITA to remove (different design than the Si) and there is a large wiring harness that runs over the top of the large shifter bushing (if you remove the three bolts from the bracket that holds the shift cables in place, you can move the big bushing out from under the wiring harness where it is easier to see what you are doing). The install took me a little over an hour to complete. You will need a metric socket wrench set with extensions - I can't imagine doing this install without the proper tools.

yea there are many many other people that have that problem with 3rd gear... me included...the only solution that i have heard of is replacing the tranny fluid with full synthetic.
