So after crimping the power wire, i get nothing. Im pretty stumped, and now I cant get the original horn to work either. I checked the one fuse that i can find for the horn which is under the hood, and it is fine. Any thoughts??
It shorted just like mine did. The dealer had to remove the center console and charge me 200 bucks. My VSA fuse, horn fuse, cruise and brake fuses were all blown just because of my horn. Trust me, if you install an aftermarket horn put a fuse on that wire before your aftermarket horn because it all ties into the ecu.

Interesting. I know my horn fuse in the engine bay fuse box is fine, and I have had no other problems since. Definitely something to look into though, thanks!

Doesn't the relay help this issue? Is this problem with all horns? I have the Stebel Nautilus horn and I want to install it this weekend but have read a few posts and I'm not sure the exact installation process.

That is the same one that bought earlier this week (but haven't installed yet).

You can also find it here (where I first learned of its existence):
http://www.griotsgarage.com/catalog.jsp?&SKU=77505

and here:
http://www.wolo-mfg.com/air.htm

the latter of which I bought (on eBay).

Will post pics of the install when I actually have the time to do it.

goixiz,

Where did you get the connector (white part) on your fuse harness? or did you "scavenge" it from the old horn? (if so was it hard to get from the old horn?).

Thanks,

W

i scavenged
all you have to do is use a 3/16 drill - drill till about 1/2 thickness of white part and just pops out (its epoxied on)

The horn is a little PUNK!

I can't believe you have to take the bumper off to replace the horn?! Is there no other way to get to it??
Good post,
but sour grapes to Honda for making the horn a hastle.
weak man!

How did you mount it on the passenger side? Is there a Honda bracket that fits on the passenger side as well, or did you just fashion one up?

you could make one or could just buy an additional bracket.

Its the additional bracket I would like to buy. I can see it on the parts page for College Hills Honda:

Genuine Honda Replacements Parts

The one I want is #8, we have #6. Anyone have a way of finding out that part number?

i just did a horn swap on my 08 civic sedan. I installed an 05 honda element horn, it was just plug and play, also spliced extra wire on to the wire before plug to keep stock horn hooked up also. Both horns sounded great together but i ended up unpluging the stock one.i thought it had a problem when i looked doors with key button the horns didnt honk. so i unhooked the stock one. I later realized the cause was the car trunk wasnt latched causing car not to lock or honk when pushing the key button. Oh well if i ever have the front bumper of again i will hook it all back up.

I also did a dyi installed home depot gutter guard sceen to help protect the ac condensor from flying objects. the lower screen is screwed on the backside with #10 washers on the screwheads. Believe it or not there are holes to screw small short sheet metal srews to hold the screen . the two top holes around the grill was a little more trickey, i had to drill some holes and ziptie the screen on.

All and All things went well with the removal of the front bummper cover. I only lost one of the two philips screws that secere the bumper cover in the wheel wells. this hapened when i was trying to start thre screw, it fell inside . i may get a new one at the dealler but it doesnt seem really important

the bumper removal pics were great Thanks Brad
