very interesting thread, but i still can't find a solution for my problem, i have a 09 civic lx which has a stock aux port connected to factory radio ( non nav), now i just purchased a nav online froma 07 civic ,and im installing it im trying to figure out a way before installing on how to keep my aux port working on it, now the nav doesn't have the aux bottom like the stock radio, so is their a harness or a way to connect it to my nav and instead of using the xm radio , use that for the aux so i can connect my ipod, i seen on a website a harness that looks useful [URL="http://www.tss-radio.com/honda-and-acura-harness-for-pie-auxiliary-inputs-p-3898.html?osCsid=8577a303fe2254da8f025fb49e18c850"] any help will be appreciated .

Ok so I'm having some Issues. I have Audio L and R connected to pins 13 and 14 using a 3.5mm to rca cord I just cut off the rcas and ran both wires into L and R. Now for pin 3 on the ground can that just go to a common ground cause I don't have a ground coming off the 3.5mm to rca thing. Either way the second I short pins 5 and 15 it switches to AUX, Should it do this? All I hear is a buzzing noise and no sound. What could be the problem here?

so i did the install too but i have an issue... my wires were all different colors, and that COULD be it, but I think I found the right sets.
The problem is that when I have my ipod volume up past half way, I get fuzz through the aux now. So I have to turn my ipod all the way down and my stereo all the way up. I used 24 gauge stranded wire, i dont know if thats why though. Also.... everyone's only using 5 of the 6 wires right? so whats the 6th for? Is it possibly a shield? I dont have a meter to check anything, im going on sound and advice on here.... anyone? |

well... i figured it out i think.... but im not happy...
when i use a cd player as my source audio instead of the mp3 player... i get a crisp clear bass signal and can turn it WAY up. so basically i think im SOOL when it comes to making my mp3 player sound great. |

reply to male and female for the splicing into the aux
my aux install :hey guys i know its a little late but, i have seen so many people ask about doin the female end and splicing and attaching to the car. so last night i got bored and figured id give it a shot so here it is lemme know if this helps or not.
pins are listed from left to right with the connector tab facing up pin 1: right channel audio pin 2: left channel audio pin 3: audio ground pin 4: not used pin 5 connect 5 and 6 together to get to switch from cd to aux pin 6: connect 5 and 6 together to get to switch from cd to aux here is the connector that is needed for the aux cable to splice into, i cut the blue tape to get some slcak ![]() then i cut the electrial tape to get some more to make life easy ![]() youre suppoesed to conmect pin 5 and 6 together (to be able to switch from cd to aux so i just connected them with a smal wire and teped them up then i tape pin 4 to it also because its not used so i did it to get it out of the way for no confusion ![]() here it is with all the wires stripped and ready to be connected ![]() here is the femaile connector that your gonna need ![]() here it is after its cut and stipped ( black and red are right and left ) (the open wire that is wrapped around everything is the audio ground) ![]() then you need to figure out where u want to mount it .. as you can see in this pic i mounted right on the center console.. but something that make this easy just drill out a smaller hole than needed and because its surronded in rubber that has give in it you can slowly dremmel out how big you need it and slowly wedge it in there as i was starting to in this pic ![]() after its all wedged in start connecting wires and putting everything back together and here is the finished product ![]() here is the finished product with the male end plugged in not to shabby ![]() let me know wat u guys think..... sorry about the crappy pics but its the stupid iphone for ya |

Been wanting to do this for a while now so I read through this thread today and decided to give it a shot. Total cost - $2.99+tax.
Front panel connector from an old computer ![]() Paper clip for pin 5 and 6 (TY for the tip whoever that was) ![]() Radio shack part: 1/8" Stereo Panel-Mount Audio Jack (2-Pack) - RadioShack.com ![]() Just need to clean it up now but it works perfect! ![]() Thanks guys! |

in the second set of pictures where you've shown how to wire it up, is the belkin charger you're using have a 1/8" output on it. All you have to do is hook your ipod up to the charger and the AUX will autmotically read it? Where did you get that?!

its a older charger though so its not compatible with most of the current ipods (gotta love apple for that load of bs) I think it worked with my 160 gig classic, 1st gen touch but wouldnt work with my brothers 3rd gen touch. I use a avic f700bt with the usb connection now so the ipod lives in the glovebox |

Hello
Hello all,
This is my first post here. I am from India and I drive a 2006 Civic 1.8 S-MT. It does not come with the Aux-in cable as I saw with you guys from the USA. I am very keen to try this DIY this weekend. Just to summarize on what I've read so far, I would need:
Is there anything I am missing here? Kind regards, Hiren |

you may not be able to do it the same way as the US model civics. Im assuming that the CD/AUX button you have alternates between the tape deck and the CD.
I think if you tap into those GA L+/L- and R+/R- wires running from the tape deck to the radio you might be able to add your own aux input that way |

i dont know, it depends on how the tape mode triggers. If you can activate tape without a tape in the deck perhaps, otherwise you might have to rig it in some way that turns off input from the deck but keep a tape in the thing to activate it and then send your aux audio on those lines

why use that when every LX EX and Si from 2007 up has an aux built in?
the issue is the 2006 LX didnt come with one, it was an accessory you could add. Also i dont see where that HAAXB would plug in, i dont recall ever seeing a plug that would fit in in the back of a civic stereo |
