Hi,
I have a 2006 Honda Civic here in Brazil. Like edyweber said, the south american version of this car doesn't have this 6 pin conector to plug the AUX input. So i decided to unmount my dash to see the back of my headunit. In the first post, ethlar said: Quote:
![]() The question is. How to know if the pin out described by ethlar is correct for my headunit? Thanks! Diego Soares |

1. Get the cable as shown in the fig. or any cable you can find. The cable I used is the one that came with the optical drive for PC. The cable is just fit the connector of the head unit. So it is really easy, no soldering needed.
![]() 2. Here is the pins assignment from Honda taken from Civic-EU model (this would be the same for all Civic as it exactly the same for my Civic-Thailand model) B3 = AUX SGND (ground for the signal) B4 = AUX SH GND (shielding ground for preventing the signal interference from other devices) B5 = AUX GND (AUX detection wire for switched type female jack) B13= AUX L (Left signal) B14 =AUX R (Right signal) B15 = AUX DET (AUX detection wire for switched type female jack) I'm really sure about the pins assignment but I'm not sure about the function of those pins. ![]() 3. This step you need one CD-Rom cable with a socket taken from another cable. Route the wires as shown in the fig. ![]() 4. This step will finish the AUX cable but you would think about where to place this thing in your car. So you should skip this step and go to step#5-6 then get back to complete this step. ![]() Connect the other end to the mini-jack cable by inserting three pieces of hard wire between those female socket. Now you are done with the AUX cable. ![]() ![]() 5. I would suggest you to hide this cable in the transmission pocket. Remove the pocket and route the wire as shown in fig. ![]() ![]() 6. Route the wire as shown in fig. Then go to step#4 ![]() Congratulation! you now have the AUX. |

Ok im haviing trouble with some things here
i plan on doing an aftermarket headunit that only has a rear input, not a front, and i use my 20gig mp3 player alot (until i finish my SFF computer for the car) I want to know if neone has taken the pin behind the headunit and have adapted it to RCA cables to input into the aftermarket headunit!!! im sure its almost the same but i want to be sure before i mess something up |

lol, using a USB motherboard connector seems a bit... i dunno, ghetto lol
why bother from the pics ive seen, just use but splices or ball in joint connectors... which as far as i know are cheaper than USB connectors... and yes, those are USB connectors for motherboards, as well as audio connectors too... power connectors. etc. But from the diagram i saw u can avoid them alltogether |

If you read the whole thread, your question was asked already. 2006-2008 LX EX and Si coupes had an aux input 2007-2008 LX EX and Si Sedans had an aux input 2006 LX Sedans the aux input was a $100 accessory DX models dont have the availability of an aux input at all as far as i know |

I am guessing they were left over parts from playing inside computers. I know I have a few wires laying around from computer repairs and upgrades. I thought it was a great idea but I wouldn't go out and buy that style cable just for this task. |

There are 5 prongs on the rs plug I bought. 1 ground 2 left sound 3 right sound 4 touches 3 when no plug is inserted. 5 touches 2 when no plug is inserted. The package shows 4 is for "normally open" and 5 is for "normally closed" All this does is completes the circuit when the plug is not in the jack. Which on a radio plugging the headphones in would disrupt sound to the radio speakers and only the head phoes would have sound. What I am having trouble understanding is do 5 and 6 (browns) need signal coming into them from pins 1 and 2 (red and green)? because if I wire this jack the way described in this post that is what will happen when I unplug the headphone plug. At the same time it tells me that 5 and 6 (browns) wouldn't ever be connected together and theoretically (sp?) the aux function wouldn't be made available on the HU. Or am I just turning this into something more difficault than it needs to be. Has anyone wired it up this way that can verify it works? I would like the aux to only be available when the plug is in use. |

from what i understand is.. that basically for the pins 1 (red),2 (green),3 (black) u insert wires from the female jack or male jack which ever one you perfer. for the two brown ones (5 and 6) u just connect them together with a piece of wire. connecting these two, enables the aux option to be available to use.
