PAPER CLIP! *grins* I just did my aux job, man, took 15mins. And $0.00. Parts: 1 standard paperclip 1 old set of stereo headphones (or a dolalr store brand) solder iron, solder Electrical tape Electrical shrink wrap Heat gun After removing the center console rear tray (easy as anything) Step 1: cut paperclip into equal lengths of four. Bend one piece into a 'U' and use that as your bridge wire. Step 2: rip apart the old headset wire, strip the non plug end about 1/4inch to half an inch Step 3: Solder grnd, red and white wires to a piece of paperclip Step 4: heat shrink wrap over solder Step 5: Insert each end of the paper clip ito the Aux plug, they fit snuggly and won't fall out, take a bit of slack on cord, wrap it securley with electrical tape on the aux plug , and replace the cover. *(the cord I used is 5 feet long, and I fed it through one of the tab holes in teh back of the cetre console tray, lots of room, it's at least 1/4inch by just under 1/2 inch hole, two of them so you don't have to dremel or anything) ![]() I have this piece too that I will install in the tray at some point. ![]() THAN YOU Again for this DIY info, awesome! WOOT! |

Does anybody know how I can use my stock AUX input with my aftermarket head unit? The new head unit has an AUX input in the back. I want to wire my stock AUX input in the Civic to the rear of my aftermarket head unit. I ask in forums and everyone points to this thread. Unfortunately this thread shows how to install an AUX input to a Civic with no pre-existing AUX.

In my idea, the pin 5&6 is basically a circuit for sensing the HU that there is a device connect to AUX.
By wiring the pin 5&6 to 3.5mm switch type female jack (the jack has 5 pin two for switching, three for audio signal), this will tell the HU that the AUX mode would available when we press the CD/AUX button if there is nothing connect to it the AUX function will be disable. |
